It's not perfect, but it is fun to play, and a good game for me (a returning fan with way too much time in DD1). Climbing combat and the pawn system are particularly unique features that the game does well. If you want a world to explore and do some really fun combat in, it's great for that. Story/performance/some qol stuff could be better, but I can easily overlook that compared to everything else the game offers.

PS Don't bother with the MTX as they're all easily gotten in game.

So, unlike the majority, I have been able to make it through the first level!

The second level freezes every time a bird flies. But I found a workaround, and now it only freezes without warning in certain spots.

Once the game works properly, go for it. What I've played is very fun. But as it is now, avoid until patched.

As a side note: having the "finish level 1" achievement show 0.2% completion and be highlighted in gold is funny.

Fun, solid game mechanics. It is a bit of a shame how rarely I found other players. If you treat it as a solo experience, its great still, just don't expect to be grouping up with others super frequently.

So, I agree with the main sentiment of this game.

The enemies are repeptitive, the combat is too slow, etc. It feels like Dark Souls combat but without the interesting things that make it fun like parries and backstabs. Even the amount of offhand weapons seems so sparse that I can't enjoy it.

As for difficulty, the game seems pretty easy. Playing it safe can get you out of any situation, since you can just let the enemies mob up and then hit eachother (enemies have friendly fire). The challenge comes in when you have 10 enemies spawn behind you every time you pull a new mob (I spent about 30 mins in one hallway on level 6). Other than that, it relies on cheap tactics like patches of ground that stun you, hoping you forget about them in combat.

And the recolored enemies is so bad mainly because it feels unnecessary. They have this system where you can spend a bunch of currency to up your stats in between levels, but the enemies then all scale up to where it's as though you never even did it. Just remove the sweeping bonuses and scale all the enemies to the base amount (and as a side effect, remove the repeat enemies). As a system for character improvement, that system is pretty weak since it offers no real control.

The codexes seem like they could be interesting, but you can only use one at once, so it doesn't feel significant.

As such, I can't recommend this game at the current price. It just feels like there's something key missing. You expect the suspense and action to build up, but that can't happen when you walk into a new level to see the same enemies, but blue this time. It feels like filler, and it makes it uninteresting.

Everyone should play this game. It has a great story, fun gameplay, and more depth and interetsing side missions than any other game I've played. You can do the main plot, or you can go even deeper, and find out a lot about the characters. I highly recommend this game.

I must say, the simplicity and fun of this game is amazing. I am honestly loving it, and the plot choices only make it better.
