I'm so desperate to like this game. The art style is gorgeous, the blend of adventuring and homesteading should theoretically be exactly my kind of game but it's just not there yet.

My biggest gripe is the combat system which makes me want to pull my hair out as characters slide past each other almost comically in an attempt to fight one another being stuck in long overdrawn animations facing the wrong direction. The AI seems to have a vendetta against you as on multiple occasions in attempts to avoid the clunky combat I've ended up being chased by wolves, boars, bandits, wraiths, werewolves, and thieves who have inexplicably decided to put aside their differences and hunt me down exclusively. I've even baited them into a town of villagers who all took out their swords to attack the creatures only for the small hoard of monsters I've accrued to continue to chase me ignoring the village militia who are hacking them down.

The farming system is lackluster with only a few crop types per season which for me meant no real incentive to delve deeply.

Quests tend to be very bland with little to no variety or story behind them. Either "Gather these ingredients" or "go to x location and kill x creature" with little reward.

The skill upgrade system gave me no incentive to progress further with laughable stat upgrades like "+2.5% extra melee damage" or "crops grow 2.5% faster" providing no noticeable change in gameplay.

The system of dynamic relationships with townsfolk was a massive draw to me however it seems to be nothing more than a long exaggerated grind pressing a limited number of categorised talk options. I don't really know if there's any more depth than random choice or if their mood affects their actions because there isn't a tutorial for the mechanic.

Finally performance seems inconsistent across the board with smooth performance once minute to crashes and frame drops the next with seemingly no cause.

I know it was delayed once but the whole game feels like it needed more time in the oven. I'll be waiting for future updates but at the moment there's no way I can recommend this game.

Oh boy here I go fighting the same 4 thugs in a empty warehouse again, so glad that the auto fight option has me at a 67% win chance despite the fact that I outnumber and outgun them. Wow I lost based on chance and my top guy is dead cause I didn't want to do the same fight again, guess its time to reload the save, wow there's no quicksave option so I need to redo the last 20 mins of progress.

I want to like this game so badly but holy moly does it make it hard

Of the 7.5 hours I've currently played around 4.5 are me stuck in queue. Wait a few weeks until the servers are either beefed up or the hype dies down and you might be alright until then cannot give it a good review.

I want to rate this game well I really do but I simply can't at the moment
I have had it before where I have made a great base and all has ended well and that feels great but its getting to that point that makes me want to scream in frustration. The AI in this game to put it simply is suicidal. In my latest playthrough a raider has calmly floated outside my base and shot my miners. I think wait I put a beacon on him why did my security force do nothing? They got stuck in the airlock. They were in there so long I had to build a second airlock in order to save a small building team I had working outside. On numerous occasions I have had builders who were working on unfinished rooms in space simply take off their space suit and die from a lack of oxygen. Normally in a game like this I think well its an early access game give it the benefit of the doubt it will be fixed it may even turn out to be as good a prison architect 'Double Fine Productions is releasing a final version of Spacebase DF-9 next month, the studio announced last week. The decision brings an end to the studio's plan to continuously expand the game over a few years' Yep the devs at Double Fine abandoned it. The concept seems really cool to me its just so frustrating I can't recommend it

This is a good game let me tell you why as I recall the last moments of my last life:

I had kept this character alive and well for a good 15ish days when suddenly in the middle of nowhere he began vomiting. I was worried but I had some Antacids on me so I swallowed them and kept going unknowing of what was happening. about a day later I saw I had a disease called 'blue rot' it was stage three. Having no clue of what this was and fearing for my characters life I looked it up on the wiki. Turns out naturally I only had a 30% change to survive it but If I found a certain NPC in a certain place (I wont tell you here) Then I could be cured and immunized. the problem was that in 72 hours there was a 70% chance I would be dead. Panicked by this I began to search the map frantically to the point where I was running through a forest at night when something approached me... I searched and searched but couldn't find anything due to the low light conditions I was stuck in. Then suddenly I was slashed in the stomach by what was revealed to be a dogman (think of a werewolf with no human form.) Startled I took my equipped crowbar and smacked it in the face stunning him. This didn't come without a cost however as the dogman swung again causing my leg to start bleeding profusely. I saw that the beast was stunned took my opportunity and ran while I could through sheer luck I lost it. Wearily I continued my search for this illusive NPC well into my second sleepless night when I saw them. My dogman problem had tripled. Three dogmen 20m away. I didn't want to use it but I saw no other option. I took out the only item of value I had (a pistol with a full mag) from my bag and began to shoot knowing that running was out of the question due to their speed. 6/7 of the shots hit the pack but they were starting to close the distance. I took my bow from by back dropping the pistol and began to unload all five of my arrows into them. One of the dogmen had collapsed due to the pain I had inflicted but that still left two. There was now only 5m between me and them, my two sleepless night had left me on the verge of collapsing and even if I somehow survived this the blue rot would likely kill me. I wanted to die a hero at least. I dropped everything but my trusty crowbar. I braced for impact then swung with all my might at their leader. I was immediately slashed, battered and bruised but I had nearly got the leader at least. It was then that my sleepless nights combined with effectively a marathon got the better of me. My battered body unable to continue collapsed of sleep deprivation and there unconscious I was torn to pieces and devoured by dogmen.

This was only of of the epic moments of this life. From this game I have so many stories I could tell from wandering out of the cryo chamber for the first time to reveal the ruined world I was surrounded in to hunting a deer for an entire day with a single spear to turn its skin into a bag of which I hauled around the best cuts of meat I could get from it. This game is an experience and I recommend trying unless you don't like to read because to become really immersed then you need to read all the text they present to you.

Great as a creativity toy and a game with many mods built onto garry's mod the game never stops getting bigger and different. not to mention the great works that you could do to create animations.
