Early Access Review
Based on the description I was expecting more of a one-shot contained and planned adventure -- really it's more like medieval Lethal Company. I think with more time to cook it could be great, but my friends and I weren't really looking for an RNG looting game after playing SO MUCH Lethal Company.

Early Access Review
LET THEM COOK YOU ANIMALS, LET THEM ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ COOK - IF THE ORIGINAL GAME FAILED WHEN IT WAS POPULAR A DECADE AGO, WHY WOULD THEY REMAKE IT NOW?!?!

Gamerbabies are the biggest and most entitled manchildren, decidedly, but I think this is exacerbated by the naming convention they went with for this game's title. It really does insinuate this is a remaster or continuation of the game we all loved those years ago, but as we all know now, this game really couldn't be more different in every way beyond cosmetics.

It's still early access and will likely grow into itself and eventually get some PvP content if that's your jam, but unless you're really into mechs and extraction shooters, you'll probably be bored here for the time being. It's a grindy loot 'em up.

GIVE IT A CHANCE DAMMIT

I'm sorry, but I experienced two impassible bugs in the first 5 minutes of gameplay where platforms REQUIRED TO PROGRESS were literally intangible. Was there any QA on this? It's adorable, but I can't imagine how such severe bugs could make it into a final product, let alone that they exist in the very beginning of the game?

The art and characters and humor are great, but, there's just not a lot of content here -- definitely not enough to warrant $20. The gameplay loop is shallower than similar games you could find on Newgrounds for free 20 years ago.

Also, I beat this game, grinded relationship to max for at least one executive and didn't see one single tiddy?? Even with the nude patch and everything, I expected there to be something other than unlockable concept art that's in a completely different style. Imagine playing an NSFW visual novel but there are just never any full art scenes and for some reason the love interest avatars stayed clothed the whole time, even during the lewd scenes (which in this are few because they are your reward for 5 hours of relationship grinding).

Based on the marketing materials as a whole I went into this expecting something completely different than what it turned out to be, and what it turned out to be just doesn't appeal to me. Like, yeah, it managed to squeeze 6 consecutive, brainless hours out of me, but it certainly didn't feel like time (or money for that matter) well spent. Go play an 18+ game on itch.io for free and you will find genuinely more to enjoy.

This game was novel in its day, a simpler time. Now we have games like SEUM and CyberHook, or even Lovely Planet leading the charge, but back in my day this game was it and it was everything.

Free to play is one thing but... I can't condone this.

It's so intentionally confusing and the loot crate system that incentives essentially gambling in a children's game to unlock... Not even characters but "shards" with the promise of becoming characters if you get enough. This is a yikes.

It's such a shame because this game has tremendous polish and actually plays really well, with mechanics that would have made it an exillerating antithesis to the monolithic Mario Kart, but unfortunately these ripoff artists won't just sell us the game, they have to milk us for micro transaction revenue for a game "as a service" which will eventually just shut down anyway whenever they feel like it.

Hopefully these missteps such as Speedstorm and Lego 2k drive will serve as lessons in how far the industry can bend morality before folks lose interest.

God, when was the last time you just picked up a game and had fun? When was the last time you opened a game and 10 minutes in didn't think "do I really feel like playing this, or do I want to close out and try something else?"

When was the last time you were able to just groove with the level themes and movement mechanics without overanalyzing the design choices by the developer, or struggling with one immersion ruining bug after another? When was the last time you were able to purchase a game and truly own it, without having in the back of your mind that you have paid for access to the game and yet there's an in game shop, battle pass, and paid DLC that you don't own -- let alone the longevity of the always online server it's connected to?

Just pick up this daggun game and have a good time, play from start to finish in an hour this absolute snack sized treat of a masterpiece that encapsulates that start-to-finish just honest to goodness gameplay of yore and be content with yourself and the developers for a job well done.

Okay, and now more please?

This is the one!

Of all the roguelite first person shooters I've tried over the years, this is the one that has really stuck with me. The gunplay and mechanics are just so tight and fun to master, that it kept me coming back for more. I was so excited to see they had finally released it and MAN did it take me a ton of tries to finally reach the end, and S rank at that!

The combination of wacky guns & randomized quality + affixes, the various differing robot classes to unlock and master (and the breadth of their differing play styles), the Basecamp improvements that make each run more rewarding than the last, and the intriguing upgrades you can opt for when levelling up, it all just works together so well to harmonize with the incredible feel of the movement and shooting. The level designs are fantastic and their layouts are randomized but so fun, with tons of secrets and challenges to tryhard for.

I may have finished a playthrough with one class, but I am far from finished with this game.

By the way, the co-op is SO GOOD!! Enlist a brobot today!
