I've found myself gravitating towards games where there are fewer time pressures and more of a narrative bend. This game very much hits those marks. There's some head scratchers, but the hint system is excellent in giving just a bit of a nudge (though if you run it to the full extent, it will give you the direct answer if possible).

I love the Victorian-Goth vibe, it reminds me a bit of Gloom (the card game) and Fallen London (the predecessor to Sunless Seas/Sunless Skies).

So, you're a crow that can't fly. And you go around doing crow-like things. Smashing pots, reaping souls... And then all of a sudden there's a Big Mystery.

Of course you have to find out more about the Big Mystery. You're a crow! This is the ultimate shiny thing!

Go get the shiny thing, little crow friends. Ooh shiiiiiiny.

(Also, the combat's pretty nice.)

The Good: The art style is consistent and amazing. The voice acting is perfect. The puzzles are mildly brain-bendy but not impossible. The story unfolds nicely. Choices you make lightly impact the closing scene.

The Bad: No ability to change volume control in-game. No ability to change controller settings.

The Meh: The climax event felt short. And if you have certain items, it's no different than any other combat. There wasn't a huge payoff for success. NG+ is not made more difficult, nor does any of the story change. (I haven't been able to get through to Vintage Mode and likely will attempt to do so at a later date.)

Pinstripe is nicely done and well presented, though it left me wanting more.

Ingredients:
One part Don't Starve
One part Minecraft
Two parts WTF? Zombies?!
A dash of Oh that looks interesting

Put in shaker with some ice. Pour out into platformer. Enjoy.

Do read the wikia for this game after your first foray in. Basically, you'll walk out of the first session frustrated and wondering why you couldn't do certain things and why there are so many tombstones with your name on them and then you'll read the FAQ/wikia and go "oh, well that makes sense."

It reminds me a bit of XKCD's epic world comic. With more things that can kill you.

I also suggest that you mine dirt so you have cheap resources to make stairs with when you get stuck. Because you will get stuck.
