The type of game that makes me wish you could just say "keep an eye out" instead of recommending.

The warhammer 40K gritty aesthetics is there. The gameplay is what you expect from a good 4-players horde shooter. The soundtrack is fire. The resulting ambiance is immersive enough to give you the wanted impression that you're cannon fodder like so many of your companions. It is warhammer 40K at its finest.

However, the game suffered a LOT from troubled development with a justly disliked focus on the in-game skin store. After massive amount of negative feedback, there's been a lot of progress on integrating new features like slikk trees and finally even a fully new map design added, but the content release might feel like "too little too late" for a game that was released one year ago.

Early Access Review
Dangers includes hull breach created by alien fauna, alien fauna itself, madness-inducing artifacts, and people who mix fuel and oxygen canisters.

One of the contestants for the dubious title of "worst Borderlands series dlc."

It is an absolute, monotonous slog of killing enemies, waiting a few seconds, get a mutator, killing more enemies, get low quality loot and repeat until you reach the end, face enemies that are annoyingly tough, or, more likely, that you leave because of sheer boredom.

There's no real story beyond the into no new loot, no new enemies, no really new maps, and by the end of the day no incentive to play that dlc.

Just skip it.

A game that requires a lot of effort from the player.

Because you'll die. A lot.

But it makes those god runs where everything around you explode when you sneeze all the sweeter.

An overpriced skin which sole purpose is to artificially increase the value of the Season Pass.

This game has a LOT of issues: writing, balance, bugs still present after a year after its release, relatively empty dlcs...

However it's still a fun title which saw a great deal of improvement in its core elements compared to its predecessors. The shooting and looting is more responsive and rewarding, and the game feels less clumsy playing. So if you came to the serie or stood a long time there just for that, jump on!

However, if you came here to see how the characters from the past episodes fared and to appreciate the story... You might want to stay away.

It's overpriced. Each dlc is a story one with the proper structure everybody has come to expect from this series' dlc, but the whole bundle is certainly not worth 50 bucks. You can see the amount of content in each dlc decrease as they come out.

The result is an addition in content to Borderlands 3, but don't buy this individually. Buy the Super Deluxe Edition directly or don't.

As usual, it respects the structure of what one comes to expect from Borderlands' dlc. But once again it's so barebone it's only worth it on sales with a -50% tag.

The writing is good, Krieg's story is heartwarming and the exploration of his character is interesting. The artistic direction also has its moment with some memorable landscapes, and some of the sidequests are quite humorous.

Those are the only memorable (and even good) things in this dlc. Content-wise, it's a catastrophe. The bare minimum in new enemies and bosses, only three real new areas which are completely linear, there are almost no new ennemies (even in term of skins) and no new game mechanics, the sidequests and even the collectibles are thoroughly lacking, with only one or two real sidequest per zone and three collectibles that are pointless storywise while the game pretends it's going to have importance.

By the end of the day, the only thought that will cross your mind is a huge "That's it?". It's not bad. It's just empty.

The kind of game/dlcs that make you say a "mixed" button is required.

It has the structure of a proper BL3 DLC. New zones, new vehicles, some new/returning mechanics (jump pads and core plants) that are more gimmicky than really well exploited, new characters, new weapons, and that's it.

By "that's it" I mean that there are no returning characters from past Borderlands game or even BL3, not even to give you sidequests and the dlc in itself is relatively short and can be completed in 4-5 hours.
The story is an undeveloped western spaghetti revenge story that turns into yet another save the world scenario, with backgrounds informations only available on annoying to find echo logs, which make for uninteresting characters and a story difficult to really get in.

So once the dust clears, you take your end dlc reward and... meh. That's it. Show's over and time to go home.

Honestly, 5 bucks for two toy guns in a game...
They're useless because they're toy guns. It's funny. Ha ha. I get it.
Doesn't change the fact that if I had the choice between saving 1.25$ on the ultimate edition and those guns, I'd go around and find a real dlc to spend that money.
