The strategy counterpart to Ultimate Chicken Horse.

Many of you have probably player UCH, which is a frantic game with no time limits on rounds, but utilizes platforming mechanics, traps, and coins as each person vies for the top score. Trapper's is similar in some of these regards, but differs on multiple key aspects:

First, the graphics of Trappers is a 3d-Poly design versus the drawn 2d graphics of UCH
Trappers has a time limit on rounds, but also the pace of movements is 'calmer' and more strategic
You can misdirect trap placement with Trappers by holding A and then moving the cursor, which is especially useful for one time use traps. These mechanics and traps like these are generally not present in UCH.
Coins and trap deaths increase you score in UCH, in Trappers, you instead build up a separate meter that helps you get more powerful/unique Supertraps.
Both games have a sort of balancing feature where offered items per round seem to vary if everyone performs poorly. However, Trappers still lets you build up to Supertraps if you get kills with your traps or collect coins. With UCH, the coin is only valid if you reach the goal with the coin.
Both games have built in level editors, but Trappers you download any number from the Steam Workshop, whereas with UCH you choose four for quick access with a Code system.
Trappers has a steeper learning curve with it's mechanics. I have found that UCH holds a better reception for a wider audience, but my matches in Trappers with people who enjoy it are more intense and exciting.
Stalling/camping is a viable strategy in Trappers: you can get ahead and then make the map impossible. This is theoretically possible in UCH but not really, especially without knowledge of a defined round count.
There is no autobalancing in Trappers, also, it is possible to individually customize your character but it is hard to really see what customizations you have done, and your sprite/avatar is relatively small to begin with.
UCH operates on a single level map for the entirety of the match, Trappers cycles through multiple maps in your playlist after a set number of failed tries on a map. This keeps gameplay somewhat fresh, especially if maps are made impossible.
UCH has multiple modes, but you cannot individually enable/disable traps. Trappers allows you to precisely select each trap you like or dislike, and has lots of fine tuned customizations available for the mechanics.
UCH maps tend to be more sparse, and rely upon platforms and moving objects to build a path to the finish. Trapper's maps tend to be finished maps with built in traps by default, but bridges and secret bridges are available.
UCH traps are always visible, Trappers has some traps that are invisible and others that blend well with surroundings.
UCH has fun dancing animals, although Trappers has a fun win screen.
Trappers has theoretical support for 8 players where everyone speed runs a map and no extra traps are placed. This mode is OK, but only really works well with certain maps. UCH does not have this feature nor would it benefit from it.
UCH has a higher sticker price but does occasionally go on sale, I got it from Humble Bundle so that was great. Trappers has a lower sticker price and may go on sale for a cheaper price.

Overall, while these comparisons may seem biased in favour of Trappers, especially with my longer experience owning and playing it, the real purpose of the comparison is to show the various differences between this game and another well known game with a similar concept but very different execution. Both are great games and I would personally recommend buying both games, keeping in mind which audiences are best suited for each, and that both don't have single player gameplay.

This CTF style game is on par with games like Gangbeasts and Sausage Sports Club in terms of graphics and gameplay. Frantic and constantly changing, the one thing I do think this game is missing is 5-12 player multiplayer, and ideally 3 and 4 team maps/gamemodes. This game is a great start for an Early Access game, having waited for a better maturity before release, so you won't feel burned or incomplete on this one!

While there is not a specific tutorial mode, the trials mode does a good job prepping you for MP gameplay, although jump attacks are difficult to execute. The built in FPS counter is a nice touch, and the only time the game suffers lag is on the trial with 16+ enemies, which is only specific to a trial mode round, and not to regular gameplay. Playing far enough through trial mode unlocks a regular flag for normal CTF gameplay.

With the godheads, each one greatly changes the dynamic of gameplay, with some being helpful, others hurtful, and a few others both helpful and hurtful to the holder and surrounding players. Ones like Zeus help kill other players, while ones like Gaia impair movement. I would not nornally reccomend using Gaia on maps with lots of movement/jumping, especially with changing goals, as that could prove very frustrating.

The gameplay is fresh with each map, which is very unique with different layouts and mechanics. For example, the treasure room has boulders that can crush players, while the Greek City has 4 potential goal locations that alternate positions.

The creation of individual profiles for achievement and stat tracking is a little bit confusing, but the built in AI mechanics and multiple game modes is great for adding further customizations to gameplay either individually or with other players. This game though is of course best suited for party gameplay, especially with 4 players. You be default have a rb-attack that throws a pie at other players, although as the trials demonstrate, these can be deflected back with enough skill.

Overall, I think this is a strong buy even for an Early Access game, and like Gangbeasts and Sausage Sports Club, I bet that there will be many more content updates in the future. The developers have been working on this game for approx. 3 years and are very responsive on Facebook, which is also great!

Used to be awesome - now everyone has been scammed and content has been deleted

TBH this game would have still been awesome if it had SP or Local MP, instead, after dropping support for the game, the devs wiped the accounts of Everyone - meaning that all the money spent on the steam community market and for IAP is now gone. I lost probably close to $20 of items, and others have lost much more. And while its theoretically possible to unlock some of the content, there are no games online available so good luck with that.

Additionally, content such as armor no longer exists, so there is no more cosmetic or functional upgrades you can do anymore. This game is dead - and you literally cannot play it unless you buy a multipack to do a local game, but honestly why bother?

If you are reading this, don't get scammed like most of us were, and move on.

This game has been endless fun for dorm parties, my only complaint is that the current beta build is still missing costumes such as Santa, pudding, and headless, and the ability to spawn AI and boneloafs.

Beautiful graphics, amusing puns, poor dull gameplay.

To start, I really loved the RWBY series, but even that wasn't enough to like this game. I understand it is Early Access, but there are some key issues with this game.

Firstly, it is MP only, which may no be bad, but also zero progress you make in the game is saved.

This wouldn't be nearly so egregious if this game didn't feel like a grindfest of skulldrudgery and endless running. Catching up to teammates takes a while as running is a constant pace, and you are thrown into the game with no real storyline nor objective. You fight monsters, get a text of dialogue, a pun or two, then move on. Very boring and little substance and no purpose.

It would appear that this is perhaps best in the video format and not the game format, for while the interactivity of a game sounds interesting, the execution is not. Also skill trees are very narrow in that your skills are exactly the same save a extra bit of damage or two or an extra bolt.

I bought this game because I had it on iOS. I have not seen any explanation for negative reviews, so I will put in my own input:

PROS:

Controller Support
Local Multiplayer
Unique Fighting Style

Cons:

Black Border around Map
Ambiguous Quit Option

Overall, just like the iOS one, I think this is a great game. It is witty, fast paced, and allows for up to 4 players for an all out brawl. Unfortunately, it is distracting how levels are surrounded by a large black border, but I am testing this on a 3:2 ratio screen so it may vary on a 16:9 screen, in whcih case I will update the review if it turns out to be different. I do think that automatic scaling of levels would be in order though, and level editors would be nice too.

As there are very few games with local coop, and even fewer with controller support, this stands out as a great option for those Steam-Machine Users, but it also supports 4 players on a single keyboard, albeit it is a little strange.

This gives you a Smash Bros feel but in a rather different manner, You may find that the pigeon is useful for beginners with its homing ability, whereas other weapons like the knife are a very potent and accurate weapon. I am writing this reveiw based off of past experience with the game, and it does run at native 2160x1440 resolution at max graphics at 48-60fps on an i3-4010Y, which is very impressive optimization. Of course, the graphics are simple but clean.

I highly recommend this game, but if you have hesitations about this game due to other reviews that are not written, check out the iOS reviews and other game website reviews for this. I grabbed this at a 75% off sale making it a great value, the value at full price is gonna be more dependent on whether you have freinds to play with, as this is a solely multiplayer game.
