The local crazy people feel more dangerous at the start then in the first game. I couldn't just charge at a small group of them and murder them as easily. The AI seems ok so far but the starting sidekick seems to avoid moderately steep slopes and will walk around them. You start on a mountain so you may need to keep an eye on them as you go down. You can tell your sidekick to gather rocks and sticks. It is probably better to tell them to pick them up and then follow you instead of giving them to you as soon as they can. They just drop them on the ground with physics enabled and again you start on a mountain. It is a good idea to build and use the tent before you leave the mountain since there is not an autosave after you arrive.

A somewhat simple but well implemented design. If you casually play through the main story it is about 14 hours long without much effort in gathering materials. It would probably take at least 20 hours to 100% the game and that would be an excessive grind. When you land at the camp site you have a crew of specialists like a cook and blacksmith. They feel like they should be important to your camp but you do all of the work yourself so they have a bit of a faint impression. There is a rowboat to explore the region but after you find at least one waypoint on each island it is not used much. The water and waves look nice but there is not much to explore besides short trips to discover the 4 other islands waypoints.
