The new online system has given life to the game again. Thanks for that!

Update on 11/06/2024. Most of the bugs have been fixed, and the game is really enjoyable now. No issues playing online for the last months, and there is a solid online player base so you always have people to play with. Even though the game is full of microtransactions, these are cosmetic only, and you can grind the new teams by playing for free, although I think there is no way of getting the old teams without paying. In any case, I can recommend the game now. The AI is completely useless, so this game is only worth it to play online with other people, though.

Update on 01/10/2023. Love the game, when it works... unfortunately, if you want to play online, you'll find that it takes ages to find another player. The "unavailable servers" is a common thing as well. And, on top of that, there are plenty of bugs that will just ruin the whole experience... you can be playing for an hour before the game decided to freeze because you have done a pass and the other player has decided to try to make an interference.... brilliant. 8 months we've been waiting for this bug to be fixed.

1 - Buy the Game.
2 - Play and spend about 5-6 hours learning the basics and how to play. Just enough so you can't ask for a refund.
3 - Leave a negative review as you can't really do anything else. Can't even play as the servers seem to be down, no official explanation or whatsoever, just a "request timeout" message. Good multiplayer mode... and good game that doesn't allow to play with your teams offline, especially when you can't connect to their servers.

200 hours recorded on Steam, yet less than 50 of actual flying... most of the time has been spent in updates, installations, trying to improve poor performance, or unfinished flights due to the game crashing.

Performance in VR is just terrible, you can just interact with the cockpit via mouse, the IA traffic controller is useless... it seems that they were (and still are) more interested in publicity or paying youtubers to show how awesome their game looks than in actually doing a good game.

Is really nice you give people the chance to fly an airliner with an Xbox controller without even knowing what a knot is, but if anyone is interested in a flight sim, DCS or X-Plane are way better than this.

This game is the perfect example of how to ruin a decent (not even brilliant) game, while charging for it.

First of all, the original game was better. If you want to see the reasons, keep reading. If not, just play the original game, which I'm sure you already own.

-Someone decided it was a good idea to take away from players the "deck" system as it originally was. There is no reward for playing the game anymore and developing a civilization anymore really. OK, we want all the players to have the same the same oportunities from the beggining blablabla... this is age of empires, for god's sake, a rookie player is never going to beat a veteran, there is not luck in this game, you don't need to add balance to it in order to make all players equals.
-New Civs... what kind of joke is this? Really, I'm up for new civs, but they would have to have something in common to the rest of them, as in AoE2. In this game, you'll be playing against infantry which is indeed cavalry for game purposes, guys throwing javelins which would be musketeers instead... you have to study every single CIV in order to play, because someone decided it was a good idea to have every single unit of every single civ being different. And for what? for not offending someone? God, we all know certain civs didn't use swords, or didn't mount horses, or didn't have fire weapons... but also, I don't think any of these civs would had any chances against the british/spanish at that time. This is a game, and if there is not way to know what the hell you're facing because the guys who are running towards you might not be infantry but something else, then is game is not about strategy. Have you heard any Spanish people complaining or saying "Spain didn't even exist at that time, nor did we had that flag"? Hell, it is just a game... a game is supposed to be fun, don't think anyone is going to complain for things like that.
-Thanks for the upgrades in the multiplayer system... again, the original was better. Yes, it might be nice for some people not to have to go through the "horrible" ranking system which we had. Who would want to go through the humilliation of being called a soldier instead of lieutenant in some stupid ranking system? Just take it off and make all players equal... Now, join a game, and you'll either destroy some poor newbie, or will be crushed by someone else, but do not expect to have a fair match. Yes, I know ranks were added, thanks. Now we have all the players divided, and it is not like we had many of them in the first place for multiplayer purposes...
-Not everything is bad... some things remain from the original game though. Crashes, bugs... remember the times when you would be playing for hours, then someone decided to rage quit, and then all the players' games would crash? Well, the good news is that you can still enjoy that feature in the "definitive" edition. Of all the things you guys have changed, you could at least have taken a look and try to solve some bugs...

In summary: If nostalgy beats you: Play other game or the original version, or AoE2 at least. If you want a proper strategy game, look somewhere else. There is plenty to choose from.

I can't wait for your 34234121 DLCs being priced as the main game, and including some completely new units who nobody will know how the hell to use guys.

Single player and career mode: Really good, you'll enjoy the game for sure. Performance is great and the possibility of talking to your engineer during the race is really immersive.

Multiplayer and VR: Just not good enough. Most races are just 5 laps, the crashes are quite unreal, and the fact that the game doesn't separate players playing with and without assists is just a disaster... there is no VR support, if that interests you.

Nice game to be played in a screen and in singleplayer mode, but for anything else, just look elsewhere.

Early Access Review
19/05/2023 Update - VOIP issues were fixed, a lot of updates have occurred, not all of them good, but hey... overall, it is an awesome game for the price it has, and they've been fixing bugs and adding content for free. It is a pity you have to enter into the servers manually in order to play, and most of them tend to be full or empty, but, apart from that, the game will provide you with hundreds of hours of entertainment.

07/11/2021 Update - The game is awesome, so much content has been added at no extra cost since my first review. However, Audio problems are still here. I just can't believe this hasn't been addressed more than 1 year later.... one of the most important things in this game, and it doesn't work. Just frustrating... Are you planning to ever fix VOIP issues?

Update 9 has definitely ruined this game.

I was playing at 50-60fps two days ago, now my fps go as low as 20fps. Not bad for a performance/optimisation update... the worse? The game has crashed 4 times in the last hour, it is impossible to finish a game from the beginning to the end. I recommended the game to a few friends just a week ago, I honestly wouldn't recommend it to anyone now.

Do I recommend the game? No, I don't.

Sure, we have plenty of female pilots, female chief engineers, female tacticians, plenty of useless cockpit customization options, you can paint your ship (Which you'll never see anyway). We have all that, we are just missing a good game. Don't get me wrong, it is still enjoyable with friends, but I have the feeling I am gonna get bored after a few hours.

Now, let's speak about how cheap and buggy the game feels... you install the game, and the game won't launch until you update your graphics drivers... ok. Then, you will experience problems login into your Origin account... a blurry screen won't even let use write certain letters to enter your e-mail or password (and I;m not talking about weird symbols... some people are experiencing problems trying to type letter A...). If you manage to get through that, you might find yourself stuck on the loading screen with a black screen... of course, this is EA, you can't expect any game from these guys to work right out of the box...

I am not going to get into details (Like the mouse cursor disappearing when you try to upgrade your ship) of the game, I am just going to say it feels cheap, even if it was a free to play game, I could say there are much better games out there... It it wasn't for the Star Wars game, I really don't think anyone would enjoy this game.

Oh, and by the way... dear developers, when you are done fixing all the bugs this game has been released with, please, support trackir... although I'll be quite bored from the game by then.

As much as I have criticised this game, it is the best racing game out there. There are plenty of things which could be improved and will never be improved, unfortunately, but, if you're looking to race online, this is certainly the best simulator you can play to at the moment.

It's a pity that you don't have any more possibilities for recommending games rather than yes/no...

I've liked the game, it's that kind of game that you enjoy for a couple of hours, which is what takes to complete the game. Beyond that, there is nothing to do once you have completed the main history. I wouldn't pay more than a couple of pounds for this game though.

If you are thinking of buying the game, keep in mind that it's not a game collector game, there must be like 50 cards in all the game, quite similar between them, and that can be easily found/purchased in the shops. The game is quite easy as well once you have found the right combos. Apart from that, the battle system is ok, as well as the graphics.

Like I said, I would buy the game for a pair of pounds/euros, not more, expecting 2/3 hours of game.

Everybody talks fine about this game.

What I see is a Game full of crashes and bugs, no good tutorial and low performance. I love seeing my game crash while playing without reason. Thanks devs.
