Glad I waited for the free weekend to completely waste my time.
I could barely stomach the hour I tried it for.

EA really needs to do better, not that pretty much everyone in the known universe hasn't been saying that for years.
In fact probably beings in an unknown universe are watching EA and shaking their heads.

Please rename your game to Grand Theft Wallet 24. If you bought the game, you've surely been robbed, if you play the game, you are being robbed quite openly.
Ultimate Team, micro-transaction nightmare fuel.

Better than FM23, but not revolutionary.

I still recommend this game as I enjoy the series itself and it's the best option for a football management sim out there. But practically speaking, not much has changed from FM22.

On some levels it feels like the developers are being lazy, aspects that have been asked for by the community for quite sometime now, continually seem to be ignored.

-The new addition of a "Squad planner" has very little use other than a visual representation of what most players will do/know and remember in their heads.

-International football being untouched during the year of the World Cup feel like football blasphemy.

-The match engine still feels like it needs work or an overhaul.

- The set pieces are completely unchanged as well, aside from maybe a visual spruce up and such, so that's disappointing.

-The licensing, while being a nice touch it feels a little lost when their are entire communities out there that have been modding the game with facepacks, logos, real name fixes and of course database updates. These communities have been active for years and are doing fine work, so official licensing as a feature feels very hollow aside from the pomp and visual look of those tournaments eg. Champions League.

There is plenty more to say but if you read just a couple of reviews you'll see a pattern of what is missing from the game.

-Getting FM'd is still a thing, you think you're winning at half time being 4-0 up... guess again, the game will decide nope...and you'll at worst lose 5-4, 6-4 or at best draw 4-4. Even if team/player morale is high and your touchline shouts seemed to encourage your players.

Let the save/re-load cycle begin... again

Overall I enjoy it, but giant leap or upgrade from FM 22 it is not.

A good fighting game destroyed by (not so micro) microtransaction hell.
$1,644.20 for all the DLC, someone is surely having a laugh.

Another year another football manager game.
Don't get me wrong it's a good game, but still has it's issues like every FM has (and probably will), this one to me seems a little more perfected but it doesn't stop some down right perplexing things happening during matches.
There are a few nice additions this time around, like the development centre so you can focus on youth growth. More staff positions add a realistic feel and give you more options to delegate tasks to. Club vision now allows you to make a five year plan with your board adding to the overall feel of being the manager of a club.

Is it better than FM 19, to me yes.
Is it a radical change that makes you "feel wow...this is so new..." no it is not.
It's a game for long term fans of the series but is a great entry point for new players, it feels very accessible and there are plenty of websites out there to give help with guides and tactics. I find the UI is easy to navigate and easy to find what you're looking for.

I'm hoping to see some issues addressed in future patches but that of course remains to be seen.
Eg. Youth players demanding ridiculous wages, penalty conversions I have had an issue with though it's been better since the last patch.
There are more that many others I am sure have mentioned so I won't bother with a long boring list to read through.

Solid 8/10
If you go for it I hope you enjoy it too!

Positive review for the story. Negative for micro transactions.

I only really played for the story to see how it went after enjoying Gears 4.
Personally I enjoyed it because of the previous game...
However I am very disappointed to see how (like many games now it seems) have gone for over the top levels of micro transactions.

If it's on sale I'd say it's worth it, just don't get suckered by the micro transaction hell.

Good old fashioned point & click fun.
No issues running it.

A few things to remember though...
F5 for your menu in game (save/load etc.)
Hold the left mouse button to open the doubloon icon and select between your actions. (Use/Examine/Talk)
Have fun reliving a classic in the series.
