Man, I remember playing the living hell out of the original game's demo as a kid. Being an as****e MacGyver was so much fun.

Over the past 20 years I just kinda forgot about this game - it's a real gem though. The premise is pretty simple - sneak around the neighbours' house, collect various knick-knacks and use them to set traps for the poor, wifebeater-wearing bozo. And, once he's had enough and leaves, you tag along to ruin his vacation as well! Watching him rage and despair is really cathartic.

Remaster itself is pretty decent - game received a new coat of paint, including high-res textures, new UI and 21:9 support (though that last one makes it a bit easier, since you get to see more of the map than just the room you're in). It also supports the gamepad now, which is a very welcome change.
They did change the mechanics a bit, replacing viewership rating with gold medal for each triggered trap - so you get to see whether you used all of them, not whether you 100%'d the level. Time limit also seems to have been removed - there's only a timer to see how long you took. Other reviews mentioned removed levels - though I have no comparison, since I didn't play all the way through original games.

Also worth noting - game runs flawlessly on Steam Deck, running at stable 60fps even with 3W power limit.

Back in 2005 Scrapland was possibly my favourite game. It had not only fun, space-car combat in a futuristic city that I came to love in Crime Cities (5th Element vibes), but also on-foot exploration - making it a kind of GTA3 in space. Even better, because you can build your ride from scratch - mixing in different hulls, engines and weapons - which still beats most of crappy crafting systems devs love to glue onto their games nowadays. Add in the quirky writing and great, subtle humor (foiling evil mastermind's plan by basically installing... Windows on his servers) and American McGee's namedrop and you get something truly special.

But it's 2023 - and I'm old and cynical now. Nowadays I have much less tolerance for repetetive quests - and there's a lot of those in Scrapland - since 90% of the game is either ship combat, ship racing or fetch quests on foot. At times story feels kinda rushed and contrived and sidequests are extremely repetitive. Because of it I didn't enjoy it as much as I did 17 years ago - but I still had a ton of fun.

Remaster itself is ok at best. Pretty much no improvement in graphics aside from upscaled textures and widescreen support (thankfully this included 21:9). The UI itself ended up stretched and blurry though. Also, it seems they didn't bother to redo cinematics - they look like ultra-compressed 240p movies we used to get by... sailing the high seas. Either way, game still looks great, courtesy of wonderful and pretty much timeless visual design.

All in all though, I enjoyed this remaster. I'd go as far as to say it's worth the full price, if you have nostalgia for it. If you didn't get to play it a decade and a half ago, it's still worth picking up - though in that case I'd wait for 40-50% sale.

Mass Effect was by no means perfect. Hell, the dialogue wheel alone caused some serious damage to the entire genre.

But even after all these years, this trilogy is something special.

Every single time I start thinking Bethesda might have some reedeming qualities, they prove me wrong. They are trying really hard to prove themselves to be complete and utter trash of a publisher.

Suddenly, half the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ EU had their game version and community hub switched to Russian. Seems Bethesda gets their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ geography knowledge from cold war era maps.

I hope Steam staff gets on their case (yeah, right....), coz the amount of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ they've been pulling recently is simply ridiculous.

Probably the best racing game I've played. Whoever the guy who invented the SHIFT system was smoking, I want some of it. So crazy, so awesome. Racing while driving two cars at the same time? No problem. Taking random car and smashing it into your opponents to slow them down? You got it.
Also, pretty good story, and that's rare for this type of game.

I only wish game would force us to use a certaing type of car in some races. Going against a bunch of classic muscle cars in Skyline or 370Z just doesn't feel right.
