Been following this one for a while now because it looks so Sooo silly!
And I was not wrong.
The sillyness is the reward.

Deamon on my shoulder,
Sword in hand.
Highly stylised visuals and a random soundtrack (some that fits the period and setting and some that does not!).

But most of all I get to slice and dice people and... vegetables.. like an evil pokemon trainer.. What is not to love.!

Well it's not perfect, there is some jank to the weapon handling/swings, and the levels are a little sparse,
But it runs well, has plenty of accessibility options and the gore and slicing of enemies into large chunks is great!.

It's early access so I hope they continue to work on it. and it can only get better!

Love it, is is perfect.. no... are they likely to make it perfect...yeah..

Even saying that, it makes this the second best VR romp next to HL Alyx... now that is a job well done!

Very silly/stupid physics and the hand washing game is the best part of the whole game.
The shopping/super market part is hilariously bad and about as stressful as real life! :P

As someone that is Shielding because of a health condition/the almost certainty that Covid will kill me if I get it.. even I have to see the humour in this part of our lives and considering the game does not include the actual effects of the Virus/is not a plague simulator etc it is in all honesty..very tame.

If Space Invaders Had More Rhythm and Space Snakes..
It would be this game.

Pros
Graphics - Looks superb and had a great style.
Audio - While not my type of music it has some great tunes and clear sound design that add to the tension of the challenge.
Controls - Superbly responsive and easy to understand.
Gameplay - It makes you feel like you are a retro trip and even if you suck like me you KEEP wanting to come back to it to get further.

Cons
Length - As a simple arcade game, once it is done it is done, there is no second level or alternative modes.
Play Area - I personally found play area to small for the VERY perfect movement that was required to stay alive and win as the difficulty ramps up.

Misc
Co-Op or alternative modes/play styles would have added more replay-ability.

Overall Recommendation
Get it in a sale and have a few hours of fun/come back to it for 10 minutes a day and see how long you can last!

A superb first entry into a complex universe and a must play for anyone looking at either the second/third game if you truly wish to understand smaller references/hints to past events and character motivations.
(Plus your save games and some equipment/decisions are imported from one game into the next).

Pros:

Great Lore.
Story Is Complex And Unique.
Deep Characters Who Have Huge Flaws.

Adult Orientated Plot (mostly)

Cons:
Graphics Have Aged
Combat System Is Dated
Odd Plot/Child Like Treatment Of Adult Themes (1-2 small occasions.

Bottom line, a superb fantasy world for which this is the first jumping off point into a Trilogy of games/huge pike of books and comics and upcoming TV series I would NOT want to ignore simply due to it's age.
Go Play it or at worst watch a fun lets play/Cutscene "Game Movie".

8/10 - So close to being truly great.

A damned good Mod with a few glaring issues here and there.

The Good:
Stability
Graphics.
Sound.
Map Design (Mostly).
Story.

The Bad:
Difficulty.
Scaling of Enemy Damage/Placement.
Occasionally REALLY poor Map Design.
Play Length.

So Above sums up Minerva.
A HL2 Universe themed attack on a small island by yourself with mission updates coming from a very scathing scientist/creator.
It plays exactly like HL2 and mails the look of everything from the natural landscapes of the island to the Combine technology and structures.
I looks and plays great and I had no stability issues/crashing and the story while poorly presented (messages are far to quick to read even as a native English speaker).
The maps are again almost all superb but did utterly fail in a few key places making some puzzles overly unclear which does hurt the pace o the game and lead to some frustration.

The final part is to say it is DIFFICULT to an utter fault, enemies from the start do an insane amount of damage and come at you in swarms and it does not let up until the very end, and I played on "Normal" and have completed all the main HL, this took me 2 hours 45 to complete and so much of that was spent re playing sections where I simply did not understand where to go or what I was meant to be doing.

A shame because it is a great mod overall, if you like HL2 and want more of a challenge with less focus on puzzles, go get it for free now!

Superb Free Game:
Graphically it looks great.
Stable and the controls are silky smooth.

Only cons pre the patch are the difficulty and lack of tutorial/explenation of the markers and pickups.

Simplistic at first and then increasingly complex and mind blowing.

The game mechanics are borderline original Mario level of simple but the wrap around from the edges of the screen makes this a superb if short pleasure to play.

It has a sweet and innocent story I was not expecting and even has a few lines that have real heart.

Top this off with the musical notes played when bouncing off bricks and the soothing soundtrack it is 98% enjoyable minimalistic platformer, 1% frustration and chaos where you have to just trust your instincts and 1% blissful dream state.
