it runs this pretty well, looks pretty, fun

I played at launch and it was...fun. Played maybe 60 hours of it before it got boring.

I finally decided to give it another try with Origins, since they finally got around to PUTTING IN THE SANDWORM, which I consider the milestone of "the promise has been kept", and boy upon diving back into the universe I had no idea how true that was. This is hands down one of the best space sims to ever exist, with everything from multi-crew Freighters with recruitable NPC frigates as escorts, to underwater ruins and submersable player bases to explore them, to Alien esque jaunts through derelicted capital ships. If you're one of the poor fools(like me) who hoped Star Citizen would be the Best Damn Space Sim Ever, but by god if No Man's Sky beat them to it by a mile.

tl;dr game good, especially on sale. buy it.
