Early Access Review
At the time of writing this, all 24.9 hours of this game were worth it. (Shortened version of review at bottom)

One of the many things I will discuss is the music; it’s beautiful.
I find myself listening to tracks ranging from “unstoppable force” to “he is the light in my darkness” This games soundtracks will fill every cell in your eardrum with banger transitions and epic guitar riffs. Personally, I feel like music is something that should not be overlooked during development due to how much it can affect the player. It makes me feel a lot cooler when I hit a ultra-rickashot when there is epic rock music playing; In fact, one of my favorite things in the game is when the music pauses whenever I interrupt something, it gives the player a sense of power and meaning, but it’s also hella cool to influence the track DURING gameplay.

One of the main focuses of the game is skill, EVERYTHING you do is done by YOU and it’s not some “press e for ultra kill” simulator. All of the weapon interactions in this game are crazy and well balanced but also…hella cool. But that’s only tricks and cool moves to rase your score, another skill aspect is playing the game itself. Currently, I’m playing on standard but the game was still one heck of a challenge to master. I might be able to destroy V2 but that dose not mean I could walk all over Minos Prime any time I would like. There are no health, armor, or damage reduction upgrades meaning that runs of mine have been ended by common foes such as the Filth. Paired with the blood healing system, this means that the player actually has to pay attention and not slack off; because certain death will follow almost immediately.

The last thing I will talk about is the art style. I’m not one to judge games on their graphics unless if it negatively impacts the game, but the art style for Ultrakill fits the game perfectly. The texturing and models look amazing and polished and everything has thought and care put into it, especially the animations.

An honorable mention is the humor.
I don’t know if there is any game about descending into hell that lets you sacrifice a “hampter” to a god sitting upon a giant concrete tower which proceeds to crash your game.
That is one of many of the jokes hidden throughout the game, which is not even finished at the time of this post.

Personally I recommend this game to anyone who wants to go through hell and back while having a blast like no other.
