Fantastic game, ending got me messed up

This game has been on my bucket list for the longest time. After having started and beaten it in a single day, 12.8 hours, I can say that for a game made in 1998, it is a cinematic masterpiece. I got stuck on the final boss for over an hour though. 9.8/10. I wish there was a more modern remaster of the game though. Great game!

I can't progress pass the sorting hat scene. At that point the animation completely breaks, some angles one or more characters is invisible, my character T-poses, the sorting hat just ends up floating, and I get stuck on a black screen after being given a house. When I restart the game, the loading screen loads forever, and fails to load the game. I have created 2 whole characters just to get stuck at the same point. I even let the game load for 30 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minutes just to see. ♥♥♥♥ this clown game.

This is a pay to win simulator. You have the option of getting the best gear of the current season... for an additional $35.00. THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS? I can buy a whole new game with that money, or get a 1 month gym membership. Don't waste your time on this game. Do better things with your life.

There are several things that I would consider wrong with this game. Let's start with gameolay. The first 3 hours lf this game is like playing cutscene simulator. That and the flashbacks you constantly have are irrelevant, other than the fact that they contain the only character besides you that serves as a major plot influence, your long lost sister that you just absolutely know is alive, without knowing anything at all.
Secondly, the movement is very clunky and sluggish. It is like you're a drunk guy on ice skates. That, and your extremely low stamina for a character that has travelled thousands of miles through the undead wasteland, makes parkour pretty much undoable. Also, you can't even sprint in the game. It feels like your character just jogs along at a leisurely pace, no faster than that. Also the fact that your character, who (AGAIN) has travelled thousands of miles across an undead wasteland, has to be babysat by some guy you just met and for some reason rescued you on a whim.
Melee combat is okay. Weapons break in an no time. Your start out with no weapons at all, which, for a character that has travelled thousands of miles through the undead wasteland, seems unimaginable.
Also, literally everything has an animation. Everything. Even when I have depleted the health of both living and undead enemies, they manage to go through the stand-up animation before falling to the ground once more.
I was hoping for the classic loot-scoot-and-boogey that the original Dyling Light was. Instead, i got the sensory ability from The Last of Us, the sluggish movement of Dead Island, the limited melee variety of The Walking Dead, and the parkour abilities of a bloated drunkard. I cannot recommend the game in this state.

After more than 2 years, a developer added me and sent me a message to give the game another try after a bunch of updates.

Well, here's my new review - the game still sucks.
Parkour still feels like crap, feels like an uncoordinated idiot flailing his arms instead of grabbing something right in front of him. I decided to play the game from the start again to get a fresh start. I can't tell you how many times my character decided to phase through the second rope instead of grabbing it on the rope-swinging part when going to the radio tower.
Combat still sucks. Feels like a drunk fat guy swinging a metal bar that's perhaps a bit too heavy for him.
Movement is still sloppy, feels like a drunk fat guy on ice skates.
There is always some amount of input delay on this game, no matter what display settings I use. I'm playing on a RTX 4070 Super, this shouldn't be happening.
Honestly, the textures and graphics did not age well. Even after only 2 years.

To the developers, do better.

Rockstar doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ about this game anymore. To think that the multiplayer was the only marketable feature in this game which was previously a single player story driven god-tier franchise is a joke. There are destructive and abusive modders everywhere. It's absolutely ridiculous that Rockstar let their game get this bad, and even worse that they continue to let it continue! Another example of once-great company ruined in the hands of ♥♥♥♥♥♥, senile, crusty bastards who only want money and nothing else.

The tutorial is absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage. I would rather be thrown into the game with experienced players screaming at me because I'm new than try the "tutorial" in this game... oh wait, that's exactly what happened.

This game is listed as free to play. Well, it's only free to play the TUTORIAL! Beyond the tutorial, you have to pay at least $15 per campaign, which probably doesn't add more than 10 hours of gameplay. Absolute waste of time.

This game is awesome. Pay to win does not exist here, and I always come back to this game for another 20-30 hours like once a month. Each game could go either way and you really do learn to pick your shots after a while.
