This game once had awesome, working features for a survival game.
Hot and cold environments mattered and the only thing that limited you was your own preparation - now they have magical smoothies and challenges to complete so you can tolerate different environments.
This goes back to this armor/clothing rework - instead of being prepared for what environment you would be in - it's now more along the lines of 'x' build benefits most from 'y' armor. Taking any thinking out of what equipment you use - applying to weapons as well.
This goes back further to the progression now being tied to finding magazines in loot. When long ago - your character got better at doing things, as you did them. Such as becoming more skilled at using a bow the more you used it. Now everything is just arbitrary. The upgrades you get from leveling up are powerful and fun, but it is senseless. There's also little to no progression tied to actual survival mechanics and is all about combat and crafting.

TL;DR - 7Days to Die is no longer a survival game. It is now a looter shooter, fun if you're into that - but it is no longer the game I wanted 10 years ago. If I wanted to play a looter-shooter - I'd go play one that was designed that way from the ground up.

This game is just like the old arcade games/SNES games I grew up playing with my Dad. It truly recaptures that essence, and expands on it. Very well crafted.

If you're not already a trekkie, stay away. This game will alienate you.

A game like this doesn't come along every day. Truly remarkable.

I love the game, I really do, but I cannot recommend it to anyone because of all the damn bots and horribly managed server. Who knows, maybe one day the bot problem will get handled and I'll come back. Breaks my damn heart.

Guns of Icarus is like a breath of fresh air in gaming. I absolutley love it. Best part is, the very attractive price. Now, there are micro-transactions in the game, but all of these are purely cosmetic, even then, they are CHEAP. Some being as low as 50 cents. Even then there is an achievement-based leveling system in the game that allows you to unlock things you'd buy anyway.

Cost and micro-transactions aside....

This game is downright fun and innovative, and really puts you in a situation where you are really one cohesive unit with three other people, requiring coordination and communication; and with a shallow learning curve, getting teamed up with random people is rarely a bad thing! (of coarse, we're still going to find people we'd rather not have on our teams.) And more to this, the game has variety. Being able to pick and choose different loadoats from number of different ships and equipment for your chracter, the possibilities with this game are truly endless, and this game has a way of entraping you into this total fantasy steam punk setting, and more times than not, you find yourself speaking as if you are actually there. The only thing that could make this game any better, or any more immersive, is VR.

Keep your eyes on this one, as the devs are always working to improve it even further as well.
