If this review was written five or even ten years ago, I would 100% recommend downloading and playing one of the best FPS games I have ever played. However, it's not 2017.

Would I actually recommend playing Team Fortress 2 in 2023?

Short answer: No. Not anymore.

Long answer: I wish I could say that one of my favorite games of all time was still worth playing. I can't say the game is dead nor can I say it's even in a good state currently. Bots infest the servers making the game genuinely unplayable at certain points in the day. The developers of this game mistreat it. (Promising a major update just to backpedal a few days later, saying that they hear the community and the biggest lie of them all is that the game is constantly updated.) Should we as a whole got our hopes up? Probably not but at the same time, Valve shouldn’t have written in plain text that we were going to get a “full-on update sized update – with items, maps, taunts, unusual effects, war paints, and who knows what else” if they never had plans on delivering.

After ten years of playing this silly little game, I can safely say that much like a scorned lover, this is not the same game I fell in love with back in 2012. Even before Valve abandoned this game, they released the Meet Your Match update which dare I say hurt the game far more than any bot ever could.

At this point, this game is nothing more than a rotting shell of its former self. It’s telling when the best way to play the game is on servers run by a damn YouTuber than a multi-billion dollar company. Valve, please fix your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. I know you don’t care about this game anymore but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but the community still does.

Am I going to continue to pour countless amounts of time into this game? Yes most likely. I know for a fact that I will never forget this game and the memories it gave me.
