This has turned out to be one of my absolute favorite games, I cannot recommend it enough. As of when I'm writing this, the Recon-Arti meta is still a thing, and while that isn't particularly thrilling, it's not all that bad. The only arcade-like bit is the IFF system, having blue marks over your teammates like battlefield, but with how chaotic the game is, it's just fine, and I like it that way. I'm not a huge fan of the class leveling system especially when a game like Squad doesn't have that, but it's not that big of a deal, especially for how I play.
The game-flow is pretty straight forward and easy to understand, and it makes infantry, recon and armor all fun respectively, you're rewarded for your patience and focus, you're bound to have a good amount of fun, doesn't matter what kind of unit you're in. The gun-play is fun. the tanks are fun, the recon is fun, it's overall a great time, and I can play this non-stop.
The community is pretty good all-around, every community has its moments, but it's a good experience overall. Your experience is made by how good your team communicates, from command down to your own unit, communication is important.
This is as good as it gets, as being a middle ground between Arma and Battlefield. while some things can be improved, they did an amazing job, and while I would love to see some War Thunder-Squad 44 type detail in armored fighting, the lack of it doesn't ruin the experience, tanks are a blast, and as of now I already have an 88 kill game in tanks, so trust me, it's a good time.
