The Good:
The core game play is fantastic and they nailed the Warhammer 40k universe in both the visual and audio department. The character interactions alone are well done, thematic, funny, and after 130'ish hours I still hear new interactions. Late level game play makes you feel powerful, while remaining challenging. Weapons all feel powerful and the melee combat is still a shining standard for FPS. After several patches the crafting system has become quite enjoyable, with a game play loop to encourage getting those god roll stats for your builds. The mission modifiers add nice changes to the typical missions and keep runs feeling unique. IMHO this is one of the best 40k on the market next to Dawn of War 1 and 2.

Needs Work:
Still needs improvements though. Story is weak and I assume they meant to act as the foundation for a "live service" story. That's fine, if they make sure those updates come out at a regular interval. at the moment there has only been 1 mission that moves the story ahead. A stat screen at the end of a match like Vermintide would be welcome (showing who lead revives, damage dealt, specialists slain..etc). Future classes as well as new maps will help keep the game going and will be much needed soon. The biggest negative people mention is the item shop. As a game going for a "live service" platform I feel like a season pass would have gone down better with people. A single pass could have rewarded class cosmetics to all four classes over longer periods of development time, and given something to work towards with an easier price entry point. Performance is great for me personally, but I have friends that have issues at times due to optimization.

Overall:
Excellent game with alot of potential. For the base price point its worth a buy and as new content releases, worth the revisits. If you are a 40k fan, the setting and love/care that went into it can make the flaws easier to bear. For the general co-op shooter player, it's still solid but may need more time to get to it's full potential.

A more in your face version of XCOM. No longer can you miss at point blank range, and they nailed the imposing and powerful feeling of the Grey Knights. Since actions are guaranteed damage based on distance and cover, beating the enemy forces that will outnumber you comes down to careful action-economy management. Graphics are more stylized than grimdark realistic, but they are crisp and clean and allow for some beautiful animations.

Audio has a few issues such as sounds not playing when they seem like they should but overall small that can be added in a patch or two. Alot of complaints about performance issues and bugs, but I've had no issues with the former and very little with the latter. Your mileage in those two areas may vary though based on your set-up.

Overall - 40k video games have had a rough go over the years. Not quite the crown gem that was Dawn of War 1 and 2, but significantly better than many other entries over the years. I'd say it's a decent 40k game and a solid TBS strategy game with some nice new additions to the formula.

Early Access Review
Amazing and authentic WWII shooter. Best played with a microphone and in a squad that communicates. More accessible than Squad/Post Scriptum but more in-depth than the COD/BF series. An overall fantastic blend of of both arcade shooter movement and shooting; with the tactical realism of quick deaths and a need for slow and methodical advances. For an early access game, this is one of the best and has a bright future so long as the content keeps rolling out.
