- With the new performance patch, users only have to fear Frank Stone now. -

There are major performance issues regardless of how you set it up and what your PC can do. I'm talking about FPS average of 15, dipping all the way to 3 depending on the complexity of the scene. This makes all the QTE's next to impossible, you are sitting there half the time listening to the audio play out before the scene, and death for your characters is certain.

UPDATED:
The game is a short and sweet one with really good easter egg references to Dead By Daylight. It gives a classic horror feel, has a well told story, and isn't overly difficult or complicated for users to play through.

It previously had performance issues, but the devs were diligent at fixing it for us PC gamers and now there is little to no issue in watching the story play out. Only major con I have with it is that it feels like 40% actual gameplay while the rest is just watching the story play out.

Even 3 years later, what a journey this game is.

Pros
- Engaging Story
- Strong Characters
- Beautifully designed for both character and environmental

Cons
- Intermittent frame skipping (depending what your graphic settings are and what your computer can handle)
- Control Handling (100% you would need a controller for the smoothest experience)
- Full of Triggers. (The game is marked "mature content" and gives you a photosensitive warning, but that doesn't prepare you for what's ahead)

Will list the major Triggers below. Spoiled for both TW readers and for game spoiling:
- Trauma
- Violence
- Blood
- Death
- Molestation
- Suiside

Sat on this purchase for years, thinking that it doesn't look like a fun game solo, but found I was totally wrong. The way they've designed this game makes even solo play fun, and there is lots to do in terms of goals, character levelling, and skin customisation.

The amount of work put into the textures, lighting and animation are fantastic. Going so far that the eyelids move so well with the eyes themselves, the subtle emotions shone through. I also liked how the characters that followed you would start walking towards the goal direction if you got lost/sidetracked, but not far enough to leave your side. Very helpful in some of the bigger areas. Had all the cliches like any good horror story and it was well written where even a seasoned "choices game" player would question what the right thing to do is.

To be fair, I started playing this a year later after its release. So LOTS of patches were done on major bugs the game was facing. I mainly enjoyed the story and world the devs created. I played through twice to get both genders dialog/romance options, and try a different starting path with new choices. Part of me wishes there was more chance for development before the final conclusion of the game, but that's what FanFiction is for. Only negative I would put, would be the bugs that still face the game. Had a point where a character I'm having a conversation with in the car is completely missing. Aka its model didn't stick in the divers seat and all I see is the words I'm supposed to hear. Also buggy combat encounters that ruin a stealth mission before it even begins. Still, this game is worth the play

PLAY IT!

You may beat it in a day like me, but it's just too fun to put it down

I have played and enjoyed many visual novels in my time, but this might be the first I've given a thumbs down for one.

TBH, I was gonna give it a thumbs up, but unless you get this game 50% off or more, I wouldn't bother. The only highlight seller this game has to offer is its unadulterated fan service many different forms. This VN has only one ending, so it's a straight cut don't have to think game. If by some reason you fail in the route's choices, you can just load up or skip to that scene again and pick the correct answer to move on with the story. The voice acting and characters in the game are nice, but you will be left with MANY unanswered questions by the end of the story. Also in terms of the "intimate" scenes, you only have the female's point of view. There are lot of recycled introductory lines when you change scenes, that halfway through the game I just skipped reading it entirely until a character started talking.

Definitely one of the better visual novel games I've played, mainly for its bad endings surprisingly enough. No spoilers of course, but this games terms for a "bad ending" are unique. So be prepared for some tears to be shed, even with the happy routes. This is during an era and life of a shinobi after all.

So, I waited to play all routes and experience all parts of the menu before deciding if this was worth it or not. I had some issues with the design (excluding bishi anatomy) and gameplay, but it was minor and inconvenient. I'm happy to see the effort in the sound/music, was really well done, but I wouldn't buy this game full price

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS, I KNOW ITS LONG!
*NO SPOILERS I PROMISE*

I've played my extensive share of visual novels/dating sims/otome games, and this game, BY FAR outshines them all for me. I'm the type where I take into account everything. Story line, artwork, choices, backstory, sound, game play, the whole shebang! I've gotten myself into different types, like deep dark stories, romances, fan service, pixel games, even the old flash made games people used to put on DA. Not to say others aren't good as well, certain ones will always stand out for me in its unique way.

With MD, I laughed, I cried, I even got myself yelling at the screen trying to tell my character "What are you doing!? That's so embarrassing!" and I'm 30 for goodness sake! I can't tell you how hard it was for me to even get through the bad endings for the achievements. I won't lie half of them I tried not to read because I couldn't bring myself to know I was hurting these beautiful virtual creatures. All the DLC is worth it. You have great length and detail in each character, you have small crossovers that help you piece together a bigger story as you play them in order, you have your aftermath stories, and the options are not a simple "good or bad" that makes you feel like this game is made for children.

If there was any regret I would take away from this game, is that I would have wished to have been a part of the team that put this together, even if that meant I would be spoiling things for myself. This game is one I would play all over again <3
