Kabuto Park is a short, yet very comforting game.
The gameplay is simple, yet it never got boring or tedious during my almost 3-hour playthrough. The various amounts of bugs to catch and the different strategies they unlock in battle keep you wanting to catch more bugs and explore new areas. Despite the fun gameplay loop, I think Kabuto Park mostly shines in its design:

To start off, the colors used are warm & muted, which do amazing work making everything feel like a warm summer day. The linework is squiggly and gives off the feeling like it was hand-drawn using crayons. Character & bug designs are simply adorable, and the flavor text used for them gives them and the game so much personality. The music & sound effects are vibrant, lively, and complement the setting of the game. Mix this all together and you have a perfect recipe for a cute little experience well worth your time.

If you have the money to spare, and you’re looking to kill a couple of hours just having fun collecting and battling bugs, I definitely recommend you pick up Kabuto Park! 🐞💚
