This game is definitely a unique piece of art that has re-centered how future games will think about delivering a narrative. While it is not necessarily a new or novel concept of game mechanics on delivering a story, what Outer Wilds does so well is present a new way to assemble a game world so the player is grounded & immersed in a story and narrative that can only be achieved through the medium. While other games can leave you feeling like a passenger on a ride, Outer Wilds puts you in the pilot seat and leaves you there the whole game. It is not a puzzle game, an adventure game or a sci-fi game due to how truly unique the ideas that are executed. It will not be for everyone, but it will have an impact on the entire medium of art that is video games. Best played blind and with an open mind free from ideas of what games "should" be.
