Among Us, a game released back on iOS and Android on June 15, 2018. A simple mafia type game with a more sci-fi theme based off "The Thing".

It was relativity unknown back then, till 2020 rolled around where popular Youtubers and Twitch Streamers started playing this (Along with Fall Guys when it was on Steam), because of this, it had picked up widespread attention, even spawning memes (most notably "When the Imposter is sus", "Amogus", "Sus" and probably more that I don't know).

Some upsides that I will give Among Us was during back in 2020 mentioned above, that brought a lot of people together, even for collabs (before we got these sort of "collabs"), rivaled Fall Guys to see which is the better "bean" game, and overall, was just a simple mafia game during simple times, best played with friends or familiar people that know how to take this game.

And then it took off... not for any better mind you.

The downs heavily weight more then the upsides, and what stands out more is the community, and oh boy was it bad (and still is too this very day).

If some of you recall, the wikipedia page for Imposter Syndrome was edited to include "is sus" at the end of the paragraph, thus the page was locked to prevent vandalism from people who can't go 2 minutes without making a witty "amogus" joke.
Another thing the community sometimes like doing is replying with witty among us jokes if something relevant to it is brought up, breaking flow of conversation (and tainting the words "Suspicious" and "Imposter").
Also, this game is better played with friend then randoms, 9 times out of 10 you'll be voted out because someone said that you are "sus".

Next... the collabs, there is nothing wrong with the collabs themselves, its just how they're executed.
In this case, Innersloth is doing these collabs to stay relevant; There's nothing wrong with staying relevant, in fact, you want your game to stay relevant and known.
But its more then just a simple collab to stay relevant, good communication and good content is also what helps keep a game relevant, simply doing collabs to stay known is not a good look.
Staying on topic; the recent one (Hololive) should've just been exclusive cosmetics for those members specifically (and before you say anything, no I have nothing against them, I just think they should've been exclusive).

Finally, the content itself.
Its understandable that Innersloth is a small team, so it's reasonable that it takes a while for content updates, but if they're gonna take the time to focus on collabs more then actually pushing out other content (maps, roles, etc.) then you know something is up.

Overall, Among us was better back in 2020 then it is today, if you wanna play Among Us but its good, I recommend Goose Goose Duck and Unfortunate Spacemen.
Goose Goose Duck if you want more maps, 4x more roles, funni geese (and ducks), some decently good cosmetics (along with one going to Ukraine if you buy its cosmetic), Proxy Chat, and a overall good experience, that game is for you.
Unfortunate Spacemen if you want to feel horror, dread, but also some way to fend off from the shapeshifter (that game's version of the imposter but well executed), along with a small campaign, then that game is for you.

tl;dr 2020 among us was better before the community (and Innersloth) ruined it, go play GGD or USM for a better time.

EDIT: I should clarify that I don't hate Among Us, I just dislike what the Community and the Devs did to it.
