As a 3D Artist who makes game assets i find this little app a must have in my workflow, granted there's nothing in this app that i could not do in a paint program like photoshop or GIMP, but instead of having to mess around isolating channels and copy pasting, then combining channels and so on all i need to do is load the textures and click a button, making my workflow considerably shorter, especially when dealing with dozens of textures.

My only negative with this app is that i find it a little counter intuitive having to right click the texture boxes to load the textures, to un-tick an engine destination to get back to the non-specific, and to un-tick PNG to select DDS texture formats, however it is well documented, with plenty of tooltips, so not that hard to get used to.

i'd call it the Blender of texture apps. a small learning curve, but well documented, and paced full of usefullness (see hat i did there?).

Overall this is big ole thumbs up for me, and will become a permanent part of my workflow.

Well, what can i say? This is a great game, it runs well, is quite fluid, and easy to control, the 3d models are amazing as they always have been. The best bit is the humour you have put into the voice overs (i wouldn't have expected any less from you there),and the side scrolling game style brings back so many great memories from my past, i haven't played a lot of it so far, but plenty to know i will enjoy it thoroughly when i get time to play it properly, you should be proud of yourself, you've done yourself proud.

When i first looked at this i was quite excited, a budget software in the same genre as Scrivener, this would be extremely useful.

Then i used it...

Don't get me wrong, overall it is a good piece of software, with some pretty cool features, and the ability to create add-ons with LUA is a good move.

However, the very basic, simple functionality leaves a lot to desire, the devs of this software seem to have decided to take the mark up software route where formatting is concerned, and when you try to use formatting options to make your document looks pretty all you get is a mash up of your text and what appears to be wiki style mark-up code, with no way to actually preview how it will look.

Granted, when you export to another format it works out all the formatting for you (when it works), but or a writer always checking and rechecking his work, this is completely unworkable, i should not have to keep exporting my work to check the formatting, it should be part of the basic features included.

For this, and this alone, i cannot bring my self in all good conscience to recommend this software to anyone who is serious about writing, there are far better options out there, and to be honest they aren't that much more expensive anyway, so the price of Nimble Writer doesn't even help to make it a viable alternative.

The 10 top things to consider when choosing a writing software are:

1. How easy is it to format text the way you want?
This is a no, as per my above.

2. Does it have templates available? How many?
Although there isn't any overall templates for book writing, your sidebar system, the forms available there, and LUA scripting is a huge plus.

3. How much does it cost?
Price wise, if you fixed some of the flaws i mentioned then you would be selling yourself cheap

4. Is the program simple & easy to use?
Can't complain there, it's plain and simple.

5. Does it offer any extra features or other bells & whistles?
Big fat yes, tons of features, and more available via LUA.

6. How about a distraction-free writing experience?
You pretty much hit the nail ion the head.

7. Is the program user-friendly?
I've had no problems, so another big fat yes!

8. Can you access your files no matter where you are?
Steam cloud functionality is a huge bonus, you've done great there.

9. How easy is it to collaborate with editors & team members?
I haven't found any specific collaboration features yet, apart from saving and sharing.

10. Is there distribution capabilities when it’s time to publish?
I haven't really looked into this aspect of the software yet, however as long as it exports in multiple formats then it's a win for me, most publishers have their own platforms for publishing anyway.

You've basically nailed it 8 out of 10, number 10's not a big issue because you've covered the main export options, but number 1 is the number 1 feature for me, and you just don't have it in this software, ansd unfortunately that's a deal breaker.

Well, I've played through it now, and overall i'm pleased with my purchase.

It's not perfect, but then again what game ever is perfect?

Are there things I don't like about it?

Sure, the lighting isn't what I would choose, it's far too "orangey" and makes many of the entities look grainy to me. It's a little too "open" in parts, there's quite a few areas where you can bye-pass mechanics completely, "oh I need a key do I?" .. "nah i'll climb this hill here instead" .. etc. To me in a story driven game your character needs to be directed by the story and the map a little more, sometimes it's not clear where to go and you can end up going around in circles. The voice acting is a little over acted for my liking, and the Chroma key work just doesn't blend with the game, a video of a real person just seems out of place with the art style of the game in my opinion. My biggest bug-bear is the keys, keys, keys scenario, I see it a lot with indie games, the developers get it stuck in their head that every door needs a key that you have to find, many of the keys could be replaced with a variety of simple puzzles, the "key" here is variation, nobody likes doing the same thing over and over and to be honest I found myself saying "oh don't tell me, I need another key!".

But none of that detracts from the fact that it is a good game, and when you factor in the software used to make it, a very good game indeed. You can tell that Ertlov has put his heart into the work behind the scenes, the story is very creative, the placement of objects and terrain is very well done, and it's obvious a lot of care and attention to detail has been made here.

So, in short: While I feel that the lighting downgrades the look a little, and it could do with a few invisible walls and such to guide the players around, as well as more variation to the puzzles (ie less keys), I still find it a very pleasant, and to be frank impressive game, it's a thumbs up from me!

GameGuru is a very good piece of software, although it's released it is still kind of in its early stages of development, so there are some basics missing, but they're adding new features and fixing issues on a very regular basis. Overall it's well made, and most important of all the developers listen to what we want.

All i can say is wow, it was a well written and very atmospheric story, a wild ride in psychological horror without the insecsent zomby killing prevelant in the genre lately, probably the best buy this year for me.

Amazing game, great storyline and very atmospheric with just enough mystery to make you have to think about what you're doing.
