EDIT 2: I'm back to viewing it as a huge failure. The quests are very linear, the characters very one dimensional, you have very little player agency in this world. All the bugs and performance issues of all the games going back to Morrowind are still here but all the depth and choice and charm are sucked right out of it. Don't waste your time. There are so many better games out there. Go back and play New Vegas. Go and play Divinity: Original Sin. Go and play Pillars of Eternity or Wasteland 2. But don't waste your money this garbage.

EDIT: I have had a change of heart. What the game gave up in player choice and agency it gained in environment and gameplay. I'd still like to see some areas of the game polished but really this is quite an open world achievement.

*ORIGINAL REVIEW* Fallout 4 is ultimately a disappointing game for me. It isn't really an RPG anymore, at the very least it isn't a traditional RPG. Fallout 4 is a straight up open world action game with RPG elements.

You don't create your character. You play the most cookie cutter, standard white bro goodie two shoes character in the world. There is no player agency involved in how your character interacts with the world. You can't be evil, you can't betray people, hell, you can't even kill a lot of people in the game, as they are marked as "essential" and unkillable.

Another large complaint for me is the lack of side quests. People call developers lazy, I don't know that Bethesda was lazy but they did make a design decision that the focus was going to be on shooting enemies in various designed play spaces that serve as big shooting galleries. So instead of interesting side quests with different ways to complete the quest you end up with something like 40 max real side quests, many of them very limited in how you can complete them, and then a complete overreliance on "radiant quests", never ending quests to go to a location, kill all enemies, possibly grab a mcguffen, return, rinse and repeat. It gets old VERY fast.

There are other issues. The companion AI is infuriating. You will be killed by your companion at some point. They will run right in front of the frag mine you are trying to disable, they will trap you when you try and run from a mine, they will block you in the middle of combat, eat your bullets intended for enemies, and oh yeah, they'll run right off the side of buildings.

The settlement system is interesting but completely underbaked. Actually building things is frustrating because often things don't line up the way you would expect them. There is some debris you can scrap yet some you can't. There are not enough options for things to build. There are not many actual cities, it feels like they made this settlement system instead of putting more actual settlements into the game.

At the end of the day if you want a fun open world shooter buy the game and enjoy. If you are a big RPG fan and was hoping this was going to be next big RPG go buy the Witcher 3 or better yet, Wasteland 2 or Underrail.

I am not sure why this game has so many positive reviews. It doesn't quite feel finished. It is highly repetive and does not seem to have much variety. The moment to moment gameplay consistes of an isometric view squad based shooter, where you can pick up usable items, such as grenades, shields, health, and other, and you go around randomly generated levels shooting stuff and avoiding having your squad members killed. You can buy heads and thing but so far I haven't seen any items you can purchase upgrades for.

As of right now this feels like a beta, not a finished product.

Wow, what can I say about Nuclear Throne? Let me give you my gaming context for this review, I am an adult gamer, I have been gaming since I was in first grade and my parents bought me an NES. I've played through the subsequent console generations and of course I have always been a PC gamer.

So it is within that context that I saw Nuclear Throne easily makes my top 20 games of all time list. This game is still in early access yet has a great amount of depth, polish, and "feel".

It is a top down shooter, you can play it as a twn stick though mouse and keyboard is recommended. You choose from among several classes all with unique abilities that will inform your play style. As befits a rogue-lite it has random level generation, a punishing difficulty, and an interesting progression system involving collecting "rads" from fallen enemies which allow you to pick perks called mutations. These perks along with the weapons you pickup allow you to define multiple styles of play, even with the same character class.

This game has sucked me in, I am fast approaching 300 (5/2019 1,100+) hours in it. Even as you die you will be hitting R to restart and get right back into the action. Eventually you will learn how to play well and even defeat the throne and start looping. They have a daily challenge now, like Spelunky and they continue to work on this game, adding content and polish, long after it could be considered a compete game. *This game is no longer in active development or support

If you like old school games, if you like fast paced games, if you like addictive games designed by people who really know what moment to moment gameplay should feel like, then buy this game. This is an instant classic.

I love this game. It doesn't feature Crysis level graphics but it does feature a unique blend of strategy and first/third person brawling. If you like medieval times, if you like knights and archers and sieging castles, if you like trading and light economy management, then this game is for you. One of my all time favorites, and perhaps in a year we will see a sequal, Bannerlords.

This is a great game with a lot of rough edges. I highly recommend you start out with Mount and Blade Warband, which is basically the same game but with more goods, another faction, more gameplay options, and multiplayer.

This is a very laid back and atmospheric game with some amazing music that is the perfect thing to relax with after a long day. It is technically a puzzle game but not the frustrating kind. You control a small, amoeba like mote and you suck up ohter, small motes to grow larger. Then you can suck up the even larger motes.
It is simple a mechanic that gives rise to some surprisinly deep gameplay. I recommend it for all gamers, and if nothing else you'll hear some good music.

Tons of enemies coming at you, tons of guns to kill them with, tons of secrets to discover and tons of fun to be had in this game!
I love these games, the controls are so tight, unlock many modern shooters, so you know if you fail it is all down to your skill or lack thereof. There is a real challenge here, yet don't be intimidated because you will quickly learn how to survive.
If you are a fan of shooters at all I must suggest you try this game and the second encounter HD. No regenerating health, no two weapon limits, and no "leaving battlefield" nonsense. Just pure adrenaline pulsing through your veins as you kill enemy after enemy.

The most fun I have ever had in a game that I can't stay alive in for more than 72 seconds!
Really fun and addicting rythm/relex game, move left and right to doge lines. The descrpition of gameplay does no justice to what it is actually like to play. This is not an expensive game and it is worth every penny. Can you last more than 60 seconds?

Torchlight 2 is one of the best ARPG, Diablo like games to ever be released. This is a game that really knows what we players want out of an ARPG, we want great loot, great enemies, and character leveling choices that matter.
While there are only 4 classes each class has a wide variety of skills, of which many effective combinations can be used.
The world is beautfilly animated, it feels alive and evokes different moods in different areas. If you only play one ARPG, make it Torchlight 2. Now with mod support!

Dawn of War II is bar none my favorite RTS of all time. No resource management, no economy to manage, instead you have a few squads that can be incapacitated but not killed outright.
The strategy comes in using cover, retreating and attacking, and using your squads powers in a synergistic way to overcome the enemy. This game is amazing and a must play for anyone who likes strategy games of any kind.
Dawn of War II is one of those games that best in class. Don't miss it.
