If you enjoyed Twisted Metal, big explosions, vehicle customization and RPG-like progression, this game is for you!

Quality of the game is great - graphics are excellent, physics are realistic, and no bugs at all. If you like to build and personalize your own armored car and BLOW UP !@#$, this game definitely delivers. The progression is well-paced and rewarding, but still pulls you in for the long-haul. Sure, spending money will accelerate it, and you could jump ahead about a few weeks of hard grinding in progression for $60ish, but their match-making is very good at pitting you against players of similar if not the exact same "level" or "Power Score" (Your rating for the vehicle). Even then, you won't get to destroy noobs with your end-game build. (Who actually enjoys that anyways?)

Though there are ways to "twink" your Power Score to try and stay in a lower bracket, it hardly works, so as a new player, you won't be alienated from the game by being pitted against pros. The game definitely rewards good driving / shooting skills, along with team tactics, so skill always has the ability to trump spending money.

Even when you DO spend money, they pit you against people at the same level, so expect pretty balanced matches. Also, the balance in the game between different builds is quite fair. More lethal weapons, such as rockets, cannons, and grenades are avoidable, while they will still obliterate you if you're caught off-guard. All styles of play have their own strengths and weaknesses and have a role in the overall PvP arena.

The customization is essentially unlimited, since you literally build the vehicles from scratch. The community is very active, and I've never experienced a toxic player, even after spending 150+ hours on this game. The large selection of upgrade-able weapons, and weapon tiers, gives you a huge selection of possible builds that you can call your own. Playing with friends is even more fun.

I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.
