If you have played Starbound or at least tried it when it first became available i.e. the Beta, you might be pleasantly/unpleasantly surprised to see what the game has become.

I remember, when I first tried it, I was really pulled in to how unique and mysterious EVERY species felt. Finding ruins/settlements/enemy camps felt like an adventure, not only because of the npc encounter, be it combat or friendly, but because you had to try to piece together the cultural influences and specifics for each species. This, in my opinion, left the world up to a lot more interpretation.

Now, this is simply what I miss, maybe influenced mainly by some form of nostalgia I feel that apart from mainly visual aspects and weapon styles, the once very unique species have blended together (apart from the lore, but not everybody reads everything).

However, I do still recommend the game, it is addicting and replayable, even more so if you prefer the game to as how it is now or simply didn't experience the mystique created by the unfinished world it once had.

Do not be fooled, it is not 2d space minecraft or a terraria/risk of rain 1 clone. It is a game that will hook you with at least one of it's many cool aspects, and if not, you can always play with friends and disregard the main story/gameplay as you mess around and pour acid on eachother.

Edit: 200 hours later, its still bad

There are many difrent opinions on this game, some say its terrible pay to win some say its awesome for a free to play beta.
But i agree with the thing mentioned in most reviews , the fact that it has many pros and cons.
Pros:
For a free to play Beta its actualy pretty good.
At some times is hilarius and extremely fun.
Has a lot of weapons and vechiles.
Great idea and concept.
Cons:
Since the exp system have been nerfed hugely it takes a long time to level up.
It is very close to pay to win.
Weapons are very expensive and hard to unlock.
At some times very unfair and rage enducing.
Some ribbons either will take ages to level up or hard to understand what you need to do.
Laggy.
People with high ping are like cheaters.
But if you really are looking for a game to mess around in with some friends i recomend it,you wont play it for long but you will have fun while you did.
