DBD is the only cult where it's members will congratulate you on getting out while they load into another match.

So it took me a long while to pull through and write this but here we go. Video Horror Society caught my eye immediately when the original reveal trailer released in the Summer of 2021 it was meant to be a fresh new take on the asym genre I was ecstatic when I was one of the first batches of beta testers in early December the game was fun even if Monster felt rough at times. Survivor was really fun even in solo que matches with some very nice detailed maps and a big variety of different weapons and stigmas. The grind may have been rough to unlock pers for others but I didn't mind even when the game went out of beta into early access which is where I spent most of my time as I knew progress wouldn't carry over but sadly a series of unfortunate events befell the game. The servers were hacked taking the beta completely down from February until May of 2022 and when it came back it went right back into beta with little to no changes and the discord being hacked as well.

The game was released into early access on July 18th and I was so hyped. Excited to play the game I had waited for almost a year which felt like an eternity things were good. The game continued to be really fun even if changes were small and far between with DLCs taking way longer than most of us had hoped as well and the community and Hellbent themselves had this overly toxic positivity vibe and suggestions and changes fell to the wayside. I and many others had hoped things would get better By the end of 2022 I racked up literally over 600 hours into the game but sadly the game was not meant to be it was not going to stand on it's own next to the other asym games. Hellbent announced in June it was going to "sunset" the game in September and I had an overwhelming sadness take over me.

To give a little extra context I had recently got into a relationship when the game got it's first reveal trailer and we had moved in together on New Years of 2022 so I had spent so many hours in this game around him and he was interested in seeing it grow and eventually playing it when it hit console. So I associate a lot of fun times in this game he got to watch me play first hand and I would discuss it a lot as well. Very awful start to this year (2023) my boyfriend Sean quickly and unexpectedly passed away on January 10th so this game really has an attachment to me of sorts and then to find out the game will soon be no more really hits home that nothing lasts forever. I hope maybe some day the game will come back bigger and stronger than ever and if it never does I have these fantastic memories to cherish forever would definitely recommend!

I've been putting it off for way too long I finally installed the private server mod so far as it stands you can only play custom matches with friends,bots or spectate with every character maxed and all cosmetics unlocked and achievements (that were added like the day of the official shutdown) no longer obtainable even with this project it's a shame they have such nice little artworks! but I would highly HIGHLY recommend this project and please spread this around and make others aware of this project. Playing a few games made me oddly euphorically nostalgic with bouts of sadness thinking of where I was when this game was first announced....to what's happened.....to where I am now this game was such a gem and I would personally appreciate your help in keeping this game and the memories alive!
