The Full and Comprehensive Review by one Mr. Poznansky according to a story of one Doctor Flannigan who learned the mysteries of Heaven and got filthy rich in the process.


Sunless Skies is a game about slowly travelling through breathtakingly beautiful vistas on a space-locomotive while occasionally fighting different Bewildering and Dangerous Creatures to get from one destination to another in a quest to read an inordinate amount of stories written by people who might as well be the best writers of Albion and Beyond (I mean, Jesus, they had an author of The Wicked + The Divine write with them).

As such it is a game for those who love to read, love unusual narrative games (as this is a game without a Single Overarching Narrative), and not a game for people in a serious rush to experience All of the Story Right NOW.

It is also a game where you can say "I've just murdered a space sea space sea urchin with a rock inscribed by the burning language of stars".

As a sequel to Sunless Sea, Sunless Skies improves in every possible aspect, except maybe from OST, but that might be my bias speaking. There is no need to grind and even trading became a more narrative experience.

I do have to admit that some parts of the game are less enjoyable, namely the region of Albion is a bit drab, especially compared to the Reach.

However, I do wholeheartedly recommend the game for people outlined in the third paragraph.
