Honestly, I really love this game. one of the first games I played when I started on steam. found a great group of friends through the game and still play with a lot of them to this day. I can't in good conscience recommend this game now. I got back into the game after leaving for almost a year and a half all though a lot has changes, not all for the better. The constant crashes and random kicks from games that give you no description on why you are getting kicked is ridiculous. The anti cheat system they have set up is so sensitive, if you get lucky enough to get a few headshots in a row, it immediately kicks you out of the game. on top of that, the game is constantly crashing. Even going through fix after fix online to try and remedy the situation just leads to more and more problems.

Again, I really love this game, I want to be able to play it again for a couple of hours on days that i can, but I just cant. even in 1.0 these are beta level issues that need to still be fixed. with how fluid and well crafted the game is, Its downfall is the simplest of fixes that have just been overlooked every damn update. If you want to give the game a try, I hope you dont have the same problems that I have had, and I hope you enjoy, but for me, I guess I'll come back in another year and hopefully something will have changed for the better and I can reverse this review.

As far as killing giants who are destroying humanities last strongholds go, this game holds up. I will say that looking at the price of the game, I understand people's hesitance and some of the negative reviews. I mean looking at other new game releases that went for the same price, such as The Witcher 3 or Call of Duty BO3 on their release day, Extinction does seem on the expensive side. That being said It is a great game It really does fill an itch for people wanting to kill giants. Here's the pros and cons that I've had.

Pros:
-Fluid combat system. Attacks feel like they land on each of the creatures
-Great storyline and cutscenes. The cutscenes made me really happy to watch and made me want to play the game more. they're short, but they do really immerse you into the world.
-Procedural Maps keep you from feeling like the same thing over and over.
- Multiple game modes including a leaderboard for competitive players. Although I'd like to see more game modes in the future (maybe even a Ravenii vs Sentinel Multiplayer *wink wink*)
- randomizing bonuses for certain missions in story mode give the game something fresh and challenging on replays.
- replay value is there for someone wanting to hold the leaderboards.

Cons:
- The Price. It's just a lot for a game that is also going to be dropping DLCs as well. If it went down 20/25 bucks and gave some awesome DLCs to keep me interested for long term, that would make more sense. Unless the DLCs are going to be cheap to free, as it stands, this is the major deterrent to the game.
- Minor issues and bugs in the controls. you'll end up autorunning up Ravenii when you want to jump off, or get stuck standing still next to a civilian after rescuing them and having to release your control for a second to reset the movements back to normal.
- Sub Creatures to the Ravenii feel more like a minor nuisance compared to the Ravenii themselves. Once you upgrade your portal charge high enough, you can jump to the portals and rescue civilians way faster than they have time to land a strike on them. They also aren't worth the fight to take them out because they take too long to kill and give too little charge to your Rune to make it worth your time dealing with them. lower hp or raising the amount of charge you get for certain tiers of creatures would make it more enjoyable to kill them.


Final Thoughts. The game is a lot of fun to play and if you want a good hack and slash game with a bit of strategy, this is something you should have in your steam library. However, make sure you are willing to drop the 60 bucks on it and go in knowing the storyline is short, but the other game modes is there you will find most of your time being played, trying out the daily challenges and extinction mode to stay on the leaderboards.

WHy Does this game Suck up so much of my life? you hit a ball from one end of the field to another hoping to make it into a goal.... WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!
