The 4.0 update has changed my stance from extremely positive to somewhat negative. I used to log in with positive vibes and knew I was going to have an enjoyable time. The first two times already playing this update (4.0) has me uneasy (First time since I started playing a year or two ago).

The inventory changes are questionable. They should have kept the technology and cargo pages separate. I'm going to be doing wayyy too much scrolling now and I hate it. Also due to the changes I have lost countless hours of progress spent grinding for upgrades. All of that progress is gone or useless until I upgrade the newly added separated tech inventory. Now, I say useless because 4.0 has turned my character, ships, and freighter almost into a state of a fresh player where nothing has been upgraded because tech slots need to be acquired before upgrades can be applied. Another economy nerf (Hitting stuff like activated indium and chlorine) is brutal after the previous ones where for example the trade terminal inventory was greatly reduced. Gas extractor accumulation has been nerfed to almost 1/3 what it was previously. I have yet to test the new autosave changes, but if it makes relogging more difficult when attempting to get S class ships or freighters then that's another negative of the 4.0 update. I won't name all of the cons that I've seen to keep things shorter, but after reading the patch notes I could definitely extend the above list. I'm all for change if it makes sense or is demanded but these changes don't fit the bill.

I would say rather than changing things unnecessarily, focus on stuff that could expand the game for the better. Add some ship customization. How can we still not change the color our own ships? I can customize my freighter's colors but not my ship? Seeing more capital freighter types would be nice as well. Making it easier to get salvaged frigate modules would be nice. It currently takes me three or more trips to get one to two modules. The time/financial cost far outweighs my return. Before the recent freighter expedition, I had given up on upgrading my freighter because it simply wasn't worth my time. It felt like a ridiculous chore. These are just a few ideas.

There are some aspects of the new update that I find positive. Some of the UI (Catalogue & guide, crafting trees, icon updates, difficulty adjustments), additional game modes, visual improvements (Like the portal, space station entrance, and holograms), trade rocket, and technology packaging/unpackaging are all things I would consider quality changes. These changes make sense while keeping the game looking and feeling fresh.

Overall, if updates like 4.0 keep releasing I may retire No Man's Sky for good. Maybe this update is the odd man out, but if it starts a new pattern things aren't looking great. I truly hope some of what I've listed gets reversed because this is one of my primary games and I'd hate to set it aside. Lastly, if the game remains in its current 4.0 state I will maintain my purchase recommendation set at No.

Well, what can i say about this game? Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion is a beautiful game. The factions are all unique in their own ways including their structures, ships, and weaponry designs. I have never encountered a game based in space that looks so well textured and runs so smoothly. This game is so amazing that there are only a few other games that can even compare to it. I give props to the people who created this masterpiece and I can only hope they more games of this series.
