Early Access Review
Since the last patch the game has changed a bit, so here are my thoughts:

TL;DR
- Story is alright.
- Card game is bad.
- Not yet worth your time/money.
- Devs seem to be moving in the right direction.
- Devs work hard and respond well to feedback.
- Game shows promise.

---

The Good:

- The art during the story. There were a few sub-par CGs, but that's fine.
- The animated story scenes. They had oddly low frame-rate for some reason though
- The voice acting. The audio quality varies, but the acting quality remained the same.
- The writing. It's fun and doesn't take itself to serious, with a lot of variety in the language used.
- Developers are hard a work and respond well to feedback. Should result in a great final product.

The Bad:

- The animated models during the card game. They look pretty bad compared to their story/CG designs.
- The lack of incentive to play the card game. The story moves forward, but doesn't affect the card game.
- Card game is very repetitive and becomes a chore very quickly.
- Card game has a lot of annoying RNG. Granted, it's not as bad as it was before.

---

Additional thoughts regarding the update:

- The map was removed and replaced with a progress bar for the story. Not that bad of a change, but the way you progress is by doing the same thing over and over again. It's incredibly repetitive and the gameplay never changes in any way.

- The updated card game still doesn't add anything to the game. You repeat the loop of picking one out of 5 random challenges ("get less than 16 points" felt like the most consistent one to me) until you've filled up the progress bar. After the story sequence is over, you're sent back to the card game again. The fact that no new cards seems to appear and the deck stays the same, makes it very uninteresting and the fact that the animated models aren't that good just turns it into a chore. The weakest aspect of the game by far.

- The game practically plays itself, since the story just progresses in a straight line and the card game stays the exact same throughout. In some cases this could be fine, but I think the quality and consistency of the art/animations need to be way higher for that (both in story and card game). That, and the card game needs to be way more enjoyable to play compared to what it currently is.

- I like the way the game was streamlined more in this update. It's in a much better position now and should only be able to go up from here. Some of the more questionable stuff was removed or changed and the bad stuff has been improved upon. There's seemingly still a long way to go until I'd consider the game to be worth anyone's time or money, depending on what the devs choose to focus their efforts on. This update was in my opinion a step in the right direction.

- I still think this game can be pretty good, but the card game desperately needs to be improved upon.

---

Improving the card game aspects (a suggestion):

- As of now, there's a bit of a disconnect between the card game and the story. The incentive to play through it is just to progress, which would've been fine had it not been so repetitive. One way to approach this problem and also improve the players engagement with the story is to let the player build their own deck of cards, allowing them to tailor it to a playstyle (and their favorite starlets).

- By restricting the player to a select set of cards, they will need to approach each "video shoot" with a strategy in mind. In the current state of the game, the objectives don't pose that much of a challenge for the player (other than being at the mercy of RNG). With that said, changing it from 3 random challenges to one or more story specific missions that tie into the events of the game is what I think would do well here. Instead of the repeating tasks the player is currently given, each "video shoot" is treated more like a puzzle, a level with a specific problem that needs to be solved.

- Moving forward with the deckbuilding and story challenges, next up would be to add in more cards. How would you get them? By completing sidestory challenges given to you by each starlet as you "unlock" them through the main story. Essentially, I'm suggesting that the map is brought back and that each starlet is given their own mini stories, with missions unique to them, made available as soon as you meet them in the main story. Completing them would reward you with new cards, offering you more options when building your deck.

- Lastly, I'd like to mention that this whole idea would make it play into the core idea of the game rather well. You're a director and now you're able to sort of lean into what your style of directing (playing) would be. Perhaps you favor a certain starlet (maybe there's some sort of bonus effect she has when used), perhaps you need to lean into a certain color because the story calls for it or maybe you're just more into manipulating your odds with those special cards. Either way, it would potentially make the player feel like they have more of an impact on the outcome of each "video shoot" and as they and their deck gets better, the game will end up feeling more rewarding.

Doesn't matter if your monster setup runs with a thousands of LEDs around it.
It will never be complete without an animated wallpaper.

In the past, I used to run some really strange softwares that ran video files (with terrible resolution) as my wallpaper. It wasn't the best, but it sure was cool at the time. Fast forward a couple of years and this releases on Steam. A must have for anyone with a system that can run it.

This "game" is probably the best experience I've had online in recent times.
The very fact that it exists and is what it is fills me with joy and hope for the future.

Great game.
The warden level was a little glitchy for me, but not enough to ruin the game (I did have some troubles getting through the level because of it though).

Music, Characters and Story. Not much, but all of it slaps!

"10 - Beautiful!"

Ever wondered why some platforms get more games than others? Why some genre combinations are never made? And most importantly: Is game development easy?

This game has it all.

If this game was updated to follow the real life gaming world (new consoles, tech, etc.) it would be an 11/10. I have a feeling this might be the case, so... 11/10, yeah!

Short, but fun.
Felt like I was reading a one-shot manga.
Nothing to complain about, since it is free.
A bit different from other games i've played.
- liked it.

Not a perfect game, but it's K.

Borderlands TPS is a good game. I enjoyed it quite alot, but there are a few downsides:
*There are very few bosses that respawn, which basically means that legendaries aren't exactly farmable.
*Unique weapons are still way stronger than most weapons, except for some of the purple ones (second highest weapon tier).
*There isn't much to do after you've completed the story and all the side missions. This is a problem since one of Borderlands' selling points is the fact that you'll keep on playing after the missions are done.
*The current DLC's aren't enough to lift the game out of it's current state.

Are there any reasons why you should buy this game?:
*It's a fun game, even though it lacks endgame it's still a good game with good gameplay.
*It's a new game. As more patches and DLCs come out it might get more of the Borderlands gameplay-style.

I do reccommend this game, but if you're thinking of buying it you should wait. Wait for a sale or for more DLCs. Check youtube for information regarding the bad parts of the game. IF they get fixed it's a game i'd highly recommend, but for now it's just a fun game, nothing special.
