Never beat any of the divinity or original Baldurs gate titles but damn what a way to get introduced to Larian.

Absolutely a masterwork of a game and story. 10/10

Over 1k hours spent playing this game back in the day(2021 and earlier) and while I enjoyed it back then the experience quickly soured after getting tired of paying for a subscription just so I could craft and then the ridiculous state of the expansions.... Meh. As an ES nerd this just feels like what EA did to the mass effect series with 2 and beyond... They just distilled the essence of the original and put it in a format for "new" gamers to enjoy. Sure is it a good "product" yep... but is it a good game... and is it a good Elder Scrolls game?

N'wah please.

Ive sunk like over 1k hours into this game and I really enjoy it. The base game is a lot of fun as a building and exploration game with the lore/setting of the Conan universe. I played from Beta till most of the major DLC releases and played on modded servers and had a lot of fun. Very Good Game, Yes.

Not a perfect or even a super amazing game by any means (it does have some potential if they grow and expand things though) but despite that this is a really fun and good looking pirate ship combat game. The Captain body customization is basic but the outfits you can get are really good looking overall with some obvs being more flashy and less period looking but most things looking pretty grounded. Same can be said for the ship customization visually but the loadout system of the game is simple but with the available ships and weapons you can make some pretty cool ship builds and feel like a real terror on the high seas. I've yet to make it through all of the story content and side quests either(~60 hours into the game at the time of writing this post) and spent most of my play time fighting other ships and learning the game through some trial and error.

I got the special edition or whatever on sale and for what I paid this was a great gaming experience. I sincerely hope Ubisoft doesn't ruin it and maybe they might even build on this title and expand the map and other stuff.

It was too good to be true...

Playing this game when it first came out was almost as good as playing Halo 2 back in the day which is a pretty high bar of game enjoyment for me personally..

And then with every seemingly cool update...

Nerfs.

The community has voiced their concerns and even gone so far as to point out where these poor choices of constant nerfs were coming from but the developers keep on doing the same thing. This last update with the flamethrowers is just insulting. They didnt work to well at launch and throughout the previous updates they were one of the weapons that gets fixed... only for the update focused on fire to ruin it? Yeah... what else could you expect here? This game is a joke at this point and I would refund it if I could.

Do you know who Mike Pondsmith is?

Do androids dream of electric sheep?

Do spiders spin webs?

Do you want more life?

First and foremost all credit and props to Mike Pondsmith for making this original setting and working on it and giving it love for so long that the world was eventually graced with this game. The TTRPG is and has been one of my favorite pieces of cyberpunk media for a LONG time and since I never had a group to play TTRPG's with I desperately dreamed of a day where there would be a video game in this setting. When the first teaser video hit I was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ losing my mind I was so hype. It really seemed like there was going to be an immersive, super in depth open world RPG here that was really going to be like the TTRPG but in a single player game.... Excellent.

Unfortunately we got the Johnny Silverhand Returns plot line that we are railroaded into and a very weak character creator and life path set up... honestly as good as the story is... the whole narrative is just steeped in all this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ baggage of Johnny Silverhand and his ♥♥♥♥ ups and how much of an egotistical has been he is. Sure, some of the stories and interactions of some of the side characters and side quests were touching, captivating, interesting, emotional and felt real or genuine to some degree(deffs looking at you Judy and the Aldecaldos) but all of that is constantly mired by... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ face KEANU Re- I mean Johnny Silverhand(I never thought I could hate a role that man played but here we are). Nothing the player does really can escape this...there is no option in game to totally ignore Johnny and at several points you're at each others throats and then suddenly for the next side quest or random prompt youre the best ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ choombatas in the whole twisted world. Honestly ♥♥♥♥ Johnny Silverhand and whoever decided to focus the game around him and his wanna be cowboy tall tales. I wanted to be able to make any character I wanted and explore Night City on my own terms to face my own consequences... Instead you're always V...always with your douchebag room mate in your mind that never shuts the ♥♥♥♥ up, always doomed to die in the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up fashion. TBH the only good ending imho is the one where you storm 'saka tower one last time with Johnny BUT thats just considering and taking in all of the narrative objectively...Realistically it, like all of the endings, are pretty ♥♥♥♥. Now mind you I'm not expecting my character to have some grand happy ending in a cyberpunk setting... everything sucks and its brutal and desolate...You have little choice or agency as corpos and gangs run everything around you... I guess it's ironic a corp(CDPR) robbed me of the chance to play my own cyberpunk life how I wanted and instead fit us with a railroaded story destined for a despair not of our own making or design.

Also to add, I never understood the complaints about bugs. In my first plays on release I clocked around 100 hours and the few bugs I experienced were minimal and not game breaking. People playing on low gen consoles or potato PC's might have something to complain about but at the same time I think there have been bandwagon responses to things that are kinda to be expected upon release of a game... The additional 200+ hours I've clocked since all the updates and patches have been even better with MAYBE 5 instances of notable bugs or something but I also started modding the game some as well so I dont really hold any issues I have anymore at CDPR in regards to "bugs", I can ♥♥♥♥♥ about a million other things but bugs have not been something of concern to me with this game. To the credit of CDPR for building everything from this game basically from the ground up on their own is absolutely incredible, while by no means perfect... I can actually walk and fight my way thru Night City.

So with all that said, Yes this is an excellent game for the money and I would recommend it to others.

***EDIT: After Coming on 900 hours of playing this game I can honestly say R* is just horrible. What used to be fun is now lonely and boring. Reducing lobby size and decreasing players opportunities to interact further makes the game and its state absolutely deplorable. What a waste of a game. ****

I've spent approximately 640 hours on RDR2. Pretty much all of that has been online.

Trying to keep this short and sweet but... I don't even like cowboy or western themed stuff usually but the world and interactive mechanics of RDR2 are so rich and immersive I've been sucked in since I made my character. I started with a small group of friends I roleplayed with and long since have been playing mostly solo or briefly with a friend or a rando I manage to befriend in game. Not only am I very attached to my character at this point but any time I come back to RDO after a break the simple things like the combat and its(normally) very smooth and detailed series of animations from actions like fist fighting or simply just throwing back a bottle of whiskey or 7... The immersion in this game is beyond superb... its just *chef kiss* to me.

However all of this praise is overshadowed how much Rockstar is a horrible game company that need to go bankrupt... they made this masterwork and let it die a cold lonely death like a loyal hunting dog chained to a tree its entire life after its glory days have faded. GTAO gets constant updates, fixes and content.... while RDO... well just look at the activity tab for RDR2 on steam... the last major update was 2021 and its was hot garbage.

Eventually Rockstar will get tired of paying for RDO and its upkeep and the plug will be pulled on the online play and I will lose one of the few online games I have consistently returned to for years after purchasing it as well as one of my favorite Roleplay characters. I'll probably cry and have a glass of whiskey for my fiery wastrel, Kait C. Deadwood.

Till then catch me galloping into town to drink all your whiskey and kill all your lawmen!

Absolutely fantastic game, story, aesthetics, music... this game is a work of art in my opinion. A pure cyberpunk masterpiece.
