PARADOX, do not ever release a bad dlc, do not ever add ♥♥♥♥♥♥ flavor events that are just clutter, do not let bugs go unfixxed, do not let MP stability be an afterthought, do not performance be a gate-keeper to people enjoying this game. PLEASE STRIVE TO MAKE THIS GAME EVEN MORE AMAZING THAN IT ALREADY IS. Or else you will reap what you sow.

Woke and sellout company, already had issues and the fact you're now gonna censor the game and limits it's growth and options is piss poor of a decision. Enjoy the console money! Do not buy!

Reasons why you should buy Civ 7

1. Good foundation for a civ game, all of the current issues are easily fixable and will be patched eventually.
2. Good mechanics all around, best launch of a vanilla civ to date.
3. Freedom of choice is at an alltime high for the player, from mixing and matching leaders, evolving civs, mementos, choosing your city state bonuses, etc.
4. Best civ combat to date, besides maybe civ 4.
5. Heavily reduced micro in almost every facet, from no more workers (Or builders if you liked mid 6) to army commanders and tooltips that display the total yield increases.
6. Towns and settlement cap is a much needed feature that allows for better immersion and gameplay balance regarding tall/wide.
7. Last but most important one, civ swapping and splitting the game up into 3 Era's is OBJECTIVELY the best change civ will ever have. It increases the balance of each civ, as the devs only need to balance their bonuses around 1 era versus the entire game. And also the fun, as your entire kit is just as strong as others, without needing to wait for a powerspike or whatever else.

Reasons why you should NOT buy Civ 7

1. UI ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, plain and simple.
2. Minor bugs here and there, although to be fair the game LITERALLY just released.
3. UI is REALLY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, from menus to health bars to everything.
4. Lag/FPS drops/models moving slow. Probably cause of denuvo, who knows.
5. Limited options for maps, from low player counts to just almost no options whatsoever.
6. Not as much content as other civ games that have had DECADES of work/DLC's, but that's to be expected.
7. UI is really, really, really bad.

Civ 7 is to be the most promising civ yet, it's studied its competitors, humankind, Millenia, etc and took what they did but did it better, on top of fixing old civ issues. Overall a good buy if you're looking for something fresh, and can't wait to see what the game is like with more polish.

EDIT: Upon further examination, everything I said above is true, but until simple and easy things are fixed, like UI, bugs, working civilopedia, the devs recognizing that certain leader choices were not the best (Ibn Battuta, Harriet Tubman, Lafayette) on top of the current leaders not having the most personality via the diplomacy screen. I will be giving this a negative review, especially if none of it is fixed after the first DLC.

Before the update, it was a good game.

After the update, it's now a ♥♥♥♥ game with ♥♥♥♥ UI and slightly better gameplay.

WHY THE ♥♥♥♥ DO I HAVE TO CLICK 2x IF NOT 3x as much as before to do the same ♥♥♥♥ I was doing!!!

Good game provided they keep rolling out content and bug fixes at the rate they currently are while also taking into consideration player feedback.

Solid alone 7/10.

9/10 With friends.

Good game, is exactly what it says it is. GRAND STRATEGY world war two themed game. If you don't enjoy things overly complicated for "seemingly" no reason and things then why did you buy this.

Though that does not make this a perfect game. It has it's issues, one of the main ones is the monetization which I will address in a rambling of mine.

Price and DLC policy: The average person will look at the $40 for the game and be like "Oh, that is fairly priced, let me check it out!" And then they see the 100's of dollars worth of DLC and think this is obviously a money grabbing company or whatever.

The average person gives it no more thought than that, though look at most other mainstream publishers nowadays, they infest their games with built in micro transactions, release unfinished games (Somewhat similar to paradox don't get me wrong), some of which gives you pay to win advantages, and overall could give two less ♥♥♥♥♥ about how the game performs. A good example is Call of Duty. $60 each year, $40 with a "season pass" of sorts for the FULL GAME. Nobody sees an issue with that? Or FIFA? Or anything other mainstream game company. Regardless a company devoted to wanting to improve their game and brand not solely out of greed and keep in touch with their community via holding events with players of their brand, and reaching out to YouTuber's amongst many other things is something I admire.

$10-20 every 3-6 months for a DLC and free minor updates along side a free major one with DLC release is more than charitable in my opinion. When I draw the line is when the things paradox provide is terrible, and with HOI4 I cannot say any of their DLC's have NOT been bangers or of high quality. (Besides By Blood Alone) But as I said, Hearts of Iron 4 is NOT a perfect game, there is so many things Paradox should do to improve the game, but hasn't. Though at the same time they are always innovating, albeit if the innovation needs a lot of fixing and tweaking and the new innovation is a detriment at first. Though that gives them the ability to add new features mechanics constantly and let other development members fix the old things and they do it damn well if I say myself. How often do you play paradox games and think about old and bad features of the game? I could not list one annoying thing that was an issue in any paradox 6 months or older, why? They probably have fixed the issue and 100 others since then, albeit with 100 more on the way but 10 more new and amazing things to make the game better.

THAT is how paradox makes their games, high risk, high quality product. They release typically "unfinished" or rather polished things, and move on to making the next thing whilst having dedicated teams to fixing the issues with previous things. And compare it to any other company who does that and I assure you Paradox does that best.

There is many other things I can say to defend Paradox, such as them letting you play with friends who have all the DLC for free, or literally even anyone in multiplayer, the sales are quite generous. As I'm writing this all of their DLC's are 50% off EXCEPT for BBA and Arms Against Tyranny.

Thank you Paradox for giving us the gift that is Hearts of Iron 4 and your newest DLC Arms Against Tyranny. And not being as greedy as people like to think you are. I shall be playing your games until others in the market cut down on their greed. *Cough* Creative Assembly or rather Sega *Cough*

Leave a comment if you agree or disagree, I'd love to see your guys perspectives.
