Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)

Rawyokan is a short but satisfying one-button fighting game. The mechanics are simple—click to strike, click to block or parry—but don’t expect a ton of depth. Honestly, I found myself spamming the attack button most of the time and only backing off to let my stamina refill.

That said, the game still manages to feel rewarding. The sprite work is clean, the music is great, and even with how basic the combat is, there’s something super satisfying about landing a clean parry chain. I caught myself going “OH!” more than once during fights.

We beat all the challenges and unlocked sandbox mode in about 30 minutes. There are still a few variant skins to earn, so there’s a little more to dig into if you’re completionist-minded.

Overall:
If you’re into quick, arcade-style games with slick visuals and tight timing mechanics, Rawyokan is worth your time—just don’t go in expecting deep combat systems.

Pros:
✔️ Satisfying, snappy combat
✔️ Great sprite work & music
✔️ Easy to pick up and play
✔️ Sandbox mode adds replayability

Cons:
➖ Very simplistic mechanics
➖ Short playtime (~30 mins to beat main content)

🎮 Great vibes. Solid execution. Just simple fun.

After playing The Corn Maze from Wild Wizard Studios I found that it serves as a remarkable homage to the basic but scary horror games from the past. If you ever played the classic Slenderman game, The Corn Maze serves as a spiritual successor to Slender: The Eight Pages by combining elements of tension, exploration, and survival mechanics into an intense horror experience.

The premise is straightforward but effective: The dark and creepy corn maze traps you as you navigate with just your flashlight's dim light. Your goal? Survive by gathering batteries and compasses to escape the maze while evading the threatening blue cone-headed creatures that pursue you from the shadows. The combination of sound design and restricted visibility creates intense suspense which keeps you constantly on edge while each path in the maze presents a chance for a thrilling confrontation.

I had the pleasure of meeting the solo developer behind Wild Wizard Studios at Vincon 2025, and it’s inspiring to see such a passionate creator already launching games on Steam. As a solo developer Wild Wizard Studios has created The Corn Maze which stands as a remarkable accomplishment and they are developing Fry Day which puts players in control of an old farmer battling waves of angry chickens in a top-down shooter experience. My preview of Fry Day revealed that it will be an arcade-style experience that blends humor with intense action.

The Corn Maze comes highly recommended to anyone who loves indie horror games. The Corn Maze demonstrates how simple concepts can produce exceptional horror experiences when properly executed. I can't wait to see what new projects Wild Wizard Studios develops!

"Harbinger" carries that feel from ’90s boomer shooters into the future of games in an unimaginable way. Gamers looking for old-school combat will appreciate the speed, bloody battlefields and thoughtful gunplay. And the game delivers just that: uncompromising, shivering combat with monster wave after monster wave, but then the occasional pause to go to the tavern to catch your breath, stock up, and figure out the next wave.

Gameplay
Combat in Harbinger is thrilling. You fire and glide through waves of enemies, every weapon has a different approach to playing with, so players can vary how they do things. Long-range accuracies or close quarters, the game will never leave you bored. This varied range of weapons complements the gameplay, encouraging creativity and deft play.
Away from the battles, players head back to the pub, a welcome respite from the action packed battlefields. This not only provides an immersive feeling of progress as you acquire more weapons and powers, but also provides a silly respite to chat with NPCs and personalize your character. It’s a well-balanced system that keeps the game fresh.

Visuals & Performance
Even as a free to play title, Harbinger looks smooth and nostalgic. It still takes its ‘90s shooter aesthetic and makes it feel modern and polished through its lighting and texture adjustments. Performance-wise, it is pretty solid on most machines, although those running the optimal specifications will experience all its brutal violence without stutter and lag.

Verdict
Harbinger is a boomer shooter love letter: you get fast and satisfying combat with just enough of today’s improvements to feel new. A combination of maniacal activity and time in the bar provides great flow to the game. For people looking for a more retro shooter with that nostalgic feel, Harbinger is worth downloading. Just know it's not all that hard to lose some of the punch after a while.

It’s a free-to-play platform which makes it a quick recommendation for fans of retro explosion combat.

I recently had the chance to dive into El Panadero, a 2D action arcade platformer that turned out to be an absolute blast! It's not every day you get to play as a battling baker fending off alien plants with a rolling pin! The hand-drawn graphics really give the game a charming, personalized touch that adds to its indie allure.

The gameplay is straightforward and thrilling—shoot to stun the alien plants and then get in close to deal the massive damage. It keeps the adrenaline pumping, especially when you're playing in local co-op mode. I played a few rounds with a friend, and we couldn't stop laughing at the chaos and fun of it all.

Overall, El Panadero is a delightful, action-packed game that's perfect for a quick gaming session with a friend. It's easy to pick up but hard to put down—a must-try for anyone who enjoys a good arcade-style challenge!

[story]
Titanic creatures known as Nephilim have invaded Earth, and the only hope of stopping them is (Defense Alliance Worldwide Network) aka DAWN. DAWN has its own monstrous combatants however, to defend Earth and defeat the enemy hordes! For 30 ish years earth's only defense against these Nephilim was a man named Eiji Murasame who could transform into a giant robot, much like Ultra Man, Aegis Prime. Now after all this time Earth has another combat ready robot suit and its pilot Jameela . Lastly, science has advanced far enough that Earth now has 2 Nephilims on their side. Ganira, and Megadon.

[Visuals]
As previously stated, this game is heavily inspired by manga and graphic novels. This art style gives the game a nice, clear contrast with bright colors, deep shadows, and bold lines. The background buildings can look a bit muddy and under-textured, but honestly I think it works with the game’s visual style. Watching that intro video hits me hard with nostalgia. It reminds me of early 2000’s anime or the animated Teen Titans. I’m not exactly sure how else to describe it, but I like it.

When you’re not controlling a humongous Kaiju destroying the city to save the world, the art style falls back to a more traditional manga/comic feel. Each scene is laid out as if it’s a comic book panel. Several other games have attempted this with varying levels of success, but I think 13AM Games nailed it on this one.

[Audio]
I don’t even know where to begin with the audio in this game. Let’s start with that soundtrack. =sample 10-15 seconds= It’s intense to say the least. At times I feel it gets lost in the battle noise as you claw and roar your way through the city fighting other Kaiju. At the points when it does come through, though, it fits perfectly with what’s happening on screen. The cinematic drama of this soundtrack really adds to the feel of this game, making you feel one with your character and the action around you.

In addition to its soundtrack, this game is completely voice acted. While I think most of it is very well done I’ve encountered a few spots where it seems a bit lackluster, almost as if it was recorded in a restroom somewhere? =first Aegis example= I’m not saying it's awful by any means, there are just a couple odd spots that stuck out. Despite this, it's very apparent that 13AM Games cares deeply for this project and have done a phenomenal job.

[Game-play]
This is the real meat and potatoes of the game. Game-play in Dawn of the Monsters is solid. The attack controls feel like they have the right amount of weight to them. When initiating a light attack, it's fast and fluid. Opting for a heavy strike can do major damage, but it's slow and leaves you open to enemy attacks. Even in these moments, though, I don’t feel the enemy Nephilim can just cheap-shot you repeatedly. And if you find yourself surrounded, you have tools at your disposal to clear the screen or make a path. It feels balanced, which is important when most of your game-play is based on attacking. The battles are challenging without feeling impossible, making for a fun experience.

[Value]
I’ve always been a fan of the beat ‘em up genre, playing games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game, Guardian Heroes, River City Girls, etc. From what I’ve played thus far, Dawn of the Monsters is easily up there with my beat ‘em up favorites. At the game’s current price point of $29.99 you get over 35 missions with striking visuals, full voice acting, and an action-movie soundtrack. To me, it’s well worth it if you’re a fan of Kaiju and the beat ‘em genre!

[Final Thoughts]
I think it's probably fairly obvious that I’m a fan of Dawn of the Monsters. While I haven’t beaten it (yet!) I am looking forward to completing the game and seeing how the story and game play evolve. I’ll admit I’ve gotten pretty sucked in by this game and hope to do a full review once I’ve finished the whole thing.

Got my version through indie box. This is like Sonic (90's) but completely voice acted. The characters are likable and the gameplay is smooth. If nothing else I highly recommend trying out the demo.

5/5 in my opinion

The game is simply amazing. Its like watching a compelling TV show, each month I was waiting for the next episode. If you haven't played I STRONGLY recommend. You play as Bigby Wolf (Big bad wolf) as a detective in FableTown, murders start happening, you gotta shake people down and try to solve the crime.
