It's simple. The people who complain about the so called "cultural issues" within the game are more than happy to make ♥♥♥♥ up and accept lies as the truth if it benefits their narrative. There's a reason people complained about Yasuke first and foremost, despite him being an actual person in history. While yes, the AC series is known for very much distorting the truth, Yasuke is anything but. Those sorts of people simply do not like seeing minorities in media they like. It's thinly veiled, but veiled enough for them to feign ignorance and project their racism onto their detractors.
