One of my favorite games of all time. To think I played this 1995 game in the 2020s and still loved it so much. The story is incredible and comes with the old-school story feel. Loved the art and character interactions. The gameplay itself is strategic whilst also having some measure of timing, which is a nice innovation on the tried and true method of JRPGs. I will absolutely play this again in the future, start to finish, I want to be in that world again. It has made me a fan for life, and even now, despite it being a couple of years after I finished it, I am hunting for some cool merch of the game

This game is one of the special ones. The developers made something absolutely breathtaking and I do plan to replay the entire game again at some point. The gameplay and puzzles are relatively simple, but the story was so emotionally powerful for me and I recommend this game to all my friends till this day. A very unique experience that I strongly recommend

A great game that I finally got around to finishing in 2024, after finishing BG3. It was so fun seeing all the characters and lore relevant to BG3. The game itself is really fun with great writing/dialogue and very exciting gameplay/party-build customization. I will remember this game fondly

A fantastic game that really improves on Nioh 1
It is more challenging with significant improvements to enemy AI
there is an improvement in the story as well but it still isnt anything special
neither is the art style or graphical fidelity
but the gameplay is extremely deep and rewarding, it is very hard to master with 9 very different and detailed melee weapons, in addition to ninja and magic abilities.
I'd recommend it for Nioh 1 fans and even FromSoft fans

Final boss, what were they thinking

The character's movements are imprecise and frankly unfinished (camera is not dynamic, character does not change orientation automatically, cant control character mid air etc)
The higher speed jumps off back/sides of trucks are inconsistent (you can get it, but you wont get the same speed or height)

The game is 100 levels, and 99 of them are okay to awesome, its actually generally a really fun game. But literally the last 1% of the game they decide to do something completely different. And my oh my is it horrid.
Completely different than the first 99% of the game! Long, tedious and you will keep dying because of game-related issues, including the ones mentioned above but also issues related specifically to this level.

and instead of fixing these issues, they saw it fit to fix the skips/bugs people found that makes the level a bit fairer.

This game was totally going to be a fondly remembered one for me, until this last level came along. Now it gets a bad review.

PS: This is a big issue the game has. You can easily find countless others saying the same thing. If you will play the game with no intention of beating it, then not a bad purchase. But for those of you who want to actually finish it, honestly just stay away

JRPG with fantasy setting and magic? I am the exact target audience for this

Yet the game is horribly dull. The story and dialogue are so incredibly basic, it is just mind numbingly dull
and the gameplay while extremely deep (by deep i mean I am 10 hours into the game and it still keeps giving me paragraphs to read about how it works..) despite all this detail in the combat system, it is in effect just a button masher. Infuriatingly, it can take so long between the time you press a button and the time the action actually occurs, at times it feels like nothing is happening! You read so many paragraphs yet the battles are so tedious and repititive. You will find yourself going out of your away to avoid all battles, even with new enemies you havent battled against yet.

I wont talk about the more technical aspects like animations or visual effects, because I don't need to go that far to say DONT get this game. it is apparently 60 hours long, but i have played 10 hours so far and it feels like I only have about 2 hours in actual content. Boring cutscenes and dialogues that are way too long and way too often. And the game will tell you you need to go places without actually showing you how to get there or marking it on your map, so you can be just walking around for 15+ minutes trying to find it

Horrible experience, I am SO glad I have given up on finding enjoyment in this game, I can just throw it into my "never again" list

A refreshingly unique concept for a video game. It does involve a lot of reading but it was usually very well written and hence would usually be very interesting. I am not someone who enjoys games that have too much reading but this game is a surprising exception.
The concept for the game was so interesting but did they execute it well? Yes, a thousand times yes. So glad I purchased this game and so glad I played it. I played the whole thing in one sitting.

Very well written, your decisions do matter as they have consequences. Some of the characters are very likeable as well.

You feel like a detective uncovering a mysterious and horrifying story.
Regarding the horror, it doesnt have too much horror honestly - and some of the horror are just jumpscares. However its not all jumpscares. Some of the horror is due to the story and it's twists and revelations, due to its suspense as you figure out things.

Massive amount of replayability too, it seems to have several endings depending on your choices.

The ending scenes gave me goosebumps and were genuinely terrifying at times.

Really well done by the developers, shows they put in a massive amount of thought and work into this, very great product and a completely unique experience. A rare gem.

Easily one of the best games I've ever played in my life.
Certain moments and certain places in the game were absolutely breathtaking, one of the few games I've ever bothered with NG+, and the only game I played NG+ immediately after beating it, with the exception of Dark Souls.
Its my favourite game from FromSoftware, and is honestly by far the easiest one of them in my opinion. The game can be difficult at times but generally it is very doable, only a few bosses are likely going to trouble you.

The voice acting is exemplary (I played it in Japanese, which is surprisingly the default language)

The music is absolutely fantastic and does so well to convey the environment the music is played in. At times I was sure I could close my eyes and listen to the music and to an extent accurately guess what the environment looks like.

Level design is another big plus, there is always at least one way that makes it easier for you to deal with mobs, key word being at least. This is because there usually are several ways you can get through enemies.

Bosses are the most fun you will have with the game, but the mobs are also loads of fun. Even mobs can kill you if you're not careful, this means that whether you are fighting the amazing bosses or you are fighting normal enemies, battles are never tedious or repititive, they are engaging and interesting.

The best part of this game is the gameplay, the world is generally nice but shines in only some areas (which are, admittedly, breathtaking) and lastly the story.

Story is interesting and unique, but it is very 'oldschool' in that regard and by that I mean that I can tell you the whole story probably within 10-15 minutes. So while it is indeed a good story, its not much in terms of volume. Don't play it for the story, play it for the gameplay. Having said this, I am only referring to the main story, not lore you will have to discover in the same way Dark Souls and Bloodborne told their stories.

At the end of the day, I whole heartedly recommend this for those who are looking for skillful combat, fast paced action and challenging battles

An absolutely wonderful game! I was surprised to see there is good voice acting, there are a lot of weapons and skills/magic to pick from and it is really fun to be able to quickly change play styles. I was also VERY surprised to see a 2d game have some absolutely breathtaking scenes too. This game has overall exceeded my expectations and I would even recommend it at full price.
