Phenomenal action game with stunning animation quality, even those not fond of rhythm games should give it a shot.
If you enjoy spectacle fighters, this one is on-par with some of the best.

I adore this game, easily my favorite out of Platinum's works of stylish spectacle fighters.
This remaster isn't great and contains some very frustrating bugs that remain unfixed as of early 2025.

And with Platinum losing many of it's developers and directors, the chances of this version of the game being revisited and fixed up seem slim.

-The Good-

It's mechanics take some getting used to and due to the generous continue system, this game is incredibly easy to brute force without figuring out how to effectively handle enemies with your large arsenal of weapons.

The graphics are simple but very colorful, the low poly Wonderful ones are very aesthetically pleasing even with the glossy tint on a lot of their textures.

The general vibe is going for a Saturday morning cartoon/tokusatsu show and while I don't think it's anything outstanding, it is a great backdrop.
The characters are fairly one dimensional and their dialogue often gets in the way of what is otherwise well executed slapstick comedy.

The game's enemy roster is some of the best in the genre, very few of them feel actively frustrating to fight against as long as you're using the appropriate tool for the job, a vast majority of them can be stunned and juggled into a satisfying combo, including some of the very large ones.

The game will somewhat regularly swap gears into different control schemes and even different genres, many being homages to old arcade games.
This is often poorly executed in other Platinum games but I found a vast majority of these homages to be exceptionally polished and a welcome change of pace in this game's long runtime.

-The Camera-

Complaints about the camera are numerous and it's not hard to see why, W101 uses a fixed camera largely out of the player's control that zooms in and out as need be to best focus on what's important.
It's not perfect, the player is able to zoom the camera out manually but it will frequently take control back. It'll often zoom in when you'd rather have it zoomed out and vice versa.

Despite that, I did not mind the camera too much with the exception of the handful of platforming sections.
Most enemies have sound ques to signal their attacks, so once you get used to those, keeping the enemies on-screen in your battle against the camera becomes a lot less important.

-The Port-

This port is quite bad without SilentPatch.
And I don't think there's any fan patch that fixes the intrusive A-posing bug upon unite-morphing.

The A-posing bug seems to happen consistently in a bunch of areas scattered across the game. (Notably towards the later half of Operation 002-B)
I've also tested this for the Switch version and the bug is present there too.

It's incredibly frustrating as it doesn't register most inputs while you are A-posing, it's fairly easy to break out of it with an attack but considering how frequently you will unite-morph, it's more than likely to become a bother.

The orchestrated soundtrack is nice but there's a couple of tracks that don't fit nearly as well as the original score. (Tables Turn & The Won-Stoppable Wonderful 100)
Currently, there is no way to revert to the original OST without mods.

They are developing some upcoming DLC, so here's hoping we see some more patches for this troubled version of the game, though communication regarding it has been very sparse and diplomacy has failed.

Platinum has not maintained its luster.

EDIT: As of May 19th with the patch that dropped with the Luka DLC none of the prevalent issues have been addressed.
