Actual 76 Player here.

After holding back on an actual review of this game, I use to bad mouth this game 3 years ago because of what I've heard from reviewers such as bugs and people finding their way to exploit items and duplicating to be sold on the market.

After Wastelanders dropped and it became available on Steam, I decided to give it a try and see if it has improved and I was right. The game has improved than it was 3 years ago. I was able to learn the play the game and it still felt like a traditional Fallout game. The community is welcoming with only a few bad apples but they don't take the majority of said community. Most people are willing to help out some newbies and give them items they already have such as plans to craft.

My opinion on this game

This game has its ups and downs. There are still bugs such as enemies dying and their body freezes in time. Some events won't work and your game will crash eventually because 76 is still unoptimized for most systems but you can still try to fix it.

My experience on this game

Before learning how to make certain weapon builds I had to use any weapon I had from the start because I had no idea what build I wanted to main. After the perk load outs came in I have 3 builds. Heavy Gunner Power Armor, Commando / Pistol hybrid, and a shotgunner build. All full health. With the introduction of Seasons I've finished 10 of them something I never felt dedicated to do in video game. There are times where when I finish the season I take a break until the next context update drops. Recently they added a feature if you finish a scoreboard, you can keep going until the season ends.

The 76 community

What I love about this game is the community. Again, few bad apples with people running around with legacy weapons (I'm looking at you explosive gatling plasma users), duping items, and even I've encountered someone using a hack weapon. Again most of the community frowns upon them and Bethseda is trying to nerf legacies.

Miscellaneous

The road map that 76 is going is very promising as it tries to give players more things to do after being in the end game. I get it, you don't have to enjoy this game but there is a strong community that does. I made a lot of friends playing this game and most people are friendly in my terms. If you're planning to get it, do it on the next Steam sale. There has been improvement for quality of life as well. You can now craft ammo without spamming and you set a batch you can make. There's also corpse highlighting so you are able to see what bodies you've missed that you killed and recently last Tuesday they added the ability if you want to save photos from the handheld camera or not.


As of 12/5/23 I have completed 14 seasons, "The Big Score" and newer seasons will keep increasing that number and I have no signs of stopping.
