Feed the black hole!

A wonderfully executed "round-based" incremental game. A game about feeding a black hole is a wonderfully executed incremental, or "round-based" game, similar to others in the genre like nodebuster. It manages to take a simple premise and build an incredibly satisfying and engaging gameplay loop around it.

Deeply satisfying core gameplay

The core gameplay is fun and deeply satisfying. Unlocking new powerups, which is the main progression driver, feels genuinely rewarding and keeps you engaged. There's a perfect cadence to the unlocks that makes every "run" or round feel meaningful.

Simple art style works to its advantage

The art style is extremely simplistic, but it works to its advantage. It's clean, effective, and perfectly suited for the nature of the game.

Replayability and value

What really sells the game is the replayability offered by the different game modes, each with its own set of objectives and unlocks. For the low price point, the amount of content and sheer playtime value is excellent. I'm genuinely looking forward to the new upcoming game modes and hope they maintain the high level of fun and engagement found in the current offerings.

Minor gripe with zen mode My only minor gripe is with Zen mode. While I understand its purpose—it's called Zen mode for a reason—I personally found it a bit boring and useless compared to the other modes. However, it's easily ignored if it's not your style.

If you enjoy incremental games with deep progression and great mechanics, this is a must-buy.

This ain't even poker, ya joker!

this game shows great potential, but currently delivers less content and depth than expected. while the core loop is initially engaging, the experience is ultimately short and shallow, leading to very low replayability.

What works (at least for the first hour)

Great concept and satisfying start: the initial hook is fantastic, and the loop is very satisfying for at least the first hour of play.

Production value: the game features great design, it is very colorful, and has a nice sound design. the aesthetic foundation is solid. The sound for cards flipping and landing combos is quite sattisfying.

Key issues: shallow depth and poor incentives

Too short and too easy: the game pace is severely unbalanced. you get powerful too fast with just a few repetitive steps. there is no time to "plan" a build or a run because you can easily overpower the current run almost immediately.

Overwhelming and unclear rules: the rules are currently scattered and poorly explained. there is simply too little time to understand them properly before the game ends. this forces you to ignore complex planning and just chase high-rarity cards.

Pointless interactions: the few interactions with characters that exist are pointless and not memorable. they feel like filler and add nothing of substance to the gameplay.

Low replayability / no endgame hook: after completing the short campaign, the game offers few meaningful options to continue playing. the only alternative is a timed mode, which lacks incentive because it does not even grant any steam achievements.

The verdict

keep in mind that this is an incremental game, which by its core design can make progression feel "pointless." however, the idea to combine deck-building with incremental features sounds great and fun. unfortunately, if you are looking for a deck-builder with deep strategic planning, high challenge, and long-term replay value, you will likely find the current offering to be disappointingly short and repetitive.

i sincerely hope the developers expand on the content and balance the progression speed, as the foundation for a great game is clearly there.

The game has potential, it feels immersive and fun, until you hit the AI voiceacting, yeah that made the game feel cheap.
Hope they can find some funds for some real voice acting!

Early Access Review
