The best game I've never finished

I want to like this game. The new commanders make combat more interesting and the town & city system is fun to play around with but I just don't enjoy the civ switching mechanic.

Almost all of my playtime has been spent in the antiquity age because the age transition/civ switching system kills my momentum and desire to continue playing every time it happens.

They have made some changes that make the age transition less jarring but it still isn't fun to get to a new era, pick a new civ, have all my cities reverted to towns, then start overbuilding everything while rushing to settle in distant lands just to do the same thing all over again for the next era.

This is my favorite FromSoft game.

When I started, I struggled against basic enemies and the boss fights felt like an insurmountable wall. There's no option to summon help and the only upgrades you can get are acquired by progressing, exploring, and defeating bosses. You just have to keep trying each fight until you win.

Repeating this process throughout the game while exploring each area and adapting against different enemies while getting familar with the combat and tools makes every victory feel incredibly satisfying.

A satisfying mix of Nioh and a bit of Sekiro. Bosses are unique, stages are interesting to explore, lots of skills and weapons to play with.
