Many years ago, 10 year old me experienced the horror that was Resident Evil 2. I'd pop the game into my playstation at 12 at night while my mother was asleep to experience Zombie-filled halls, rather limited ammo supplies, and really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ controls. That made for a very fun, albeit frustrating, experience. I never managed to beat the game, as my saves got corrupt and I didn't feel like doing a second run.

Years later, and here I am at 1:30 at night after just beating the first run in about 8 hours as Leon. The experience is just as rewarding, without the janky controls and graphics that make my eyes sore. To say that this game is great is a simple way to describe my feelings. The game is great, however it does have its issues.
Mr. X, while easy to deal with, is more of an inconvenience than a real threat. He tends to teleport, which ruins the immersion, and his persistence has let to some buggy situations where I'd get stuck in a save room because his fat body keeps blocking the door.
Another issue is how killing/injuring zombies work. Headshots and kneeshots are VERY inconsistent. One minute, you could pop a zombie's head off with a single bullet, the next you gotta empty a mag into its leg before it splinters. It makes zombies feel like ammo-dump roulettes. Will I get lucky and kill this lurker? Or do I end up wasting a clip of precious ammo in order to proceed? It feels like a false sense of challenge which really only extends playtime enough to pass 7 hours as most of my time was spent luring zombies and Mr. T around so I can do what I need to do. It is far better in this than in the original RE2, but it's still frustrating and uninspired. The issue is less prevalent during the mid-late game, but man does it grind progress to a halt in the first quarter.

That being said, this is a VERY atmospheric game, with excellent graphics and really good story. It's modified from the original script, but I don't mind it.
Overall, I give the game a 9/10.

The summation of my feelings for this game is akin to the feelings that were felt when (spoilers) Frodo fails to throw the ring into Mount Doom, and the face Sam makes afterward. You go through this wonderful journey of playing one of the best city simulator games since Sim City 4, but the more you go, the more corrupt they get. Eventually, you realize you've lost them forever.

This game is honestly one of my favorites. I do not own any of the DLC that runs at about 15 bucks on average, and even then it's still a fairly competent game.
However, as you play the base game you realize that many of the quality of life features aren't available, and your options are limited greatly. A lack of proper infrastructure options or settings, the lack of public transport options, entertainment options besides a couple parks and a basketball court... It's all missing or very limited. That's due to the DLC that's been dropping. Transportation options are locked behind a 13 dollar paywall, and it doesn't even contain most of the transportation options that could be available. You have to buy three DLCs in order to get Trams, decent train architecture, Taxi's, and Ferries. Those are all under the umbrella of transportation, but nah. Separate DLC.

It wouldn't be a big deal, but the base game is 30 dollars, and the DLC that matters all cost over 10. That's about a hundred bucks for the whole game. While it goes on sale often, the DLC only generally drops 40%, which means it is still around 8 bucks to buy each one.
As a result, I cannot support the game, or Paradox in general. I love their games, and I even purchased their latest DLC of Crusaders II because it did add interesting features. However, the only time I recommend buying anything from them is if it's on sale for 50% or more.

As a whole, the game really is great. I just prefer having a complete puzzle set from the getgo, rather than buying each piece à la carte.

This game aesthetically is a very interesting experience. The other reviewers say the same thing. 80's vibe, trippy, bloody, beautiful.

I want to talk about mechanics though.
Namely the ai, and the difference between difficulty and the illusion of challenge. This game's difficulty is... annoying. Not challenging... annoying. It revolves around whether or not the enemy can see you or not. As soon as one dude sees you, either you're able to kill him or he instantly headshots you. The only enemies in this game that are balanced is the enemies that use shotguns, since there's no promise that they will hit you with one shot. The assault rifles in the enemy hands are ruthless, and ridiculous.
They can see further than you, fire faster than you, and can cheat better than you. And it's annoying. It's anti-fun.
One might use the catch-all phrase "git gud", but that's a cop-out. If you've ever played CS:GO against an enemy using aimbots, there is no "git gud." He's able to snipe you with 1 bullet from far away while all you can do is cower in fear.
It's not fun. Especially when you have more than four of these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the same room, and two or three of the tanks that the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ grunts can fire through, but you can't.

I recommend the game only because when the ai doesn't suddenly insta-kills you, it's a very fun game. Otherwise, if you're not a fan of ai cheating, I'd pass.

EDIT: 1.

So far I've only played about 2.7 hours of it, and it's not bad. I recommend looking up the "meta" online for beginners since uh, there are a lot of characters with different weapons and abilities.
It doesn't feel pay to win per se since the original set of characters seem to be the best, but it's still ridiculous how you have to pay 25k reknown to play season 2 characters.
Do NOT buy starter. Be warned. I bought the original version on sale and I'm having a ball. Can't say the same to starter players :/

The gameplay is a solid mix between Battlefield Hardline and Payday 2. It requires some tactics when attacking and some strategy when defending.
It's a very pretty game (that runs on my slowly dying computer somehow).
The people are either fun to play with or toxic like any community.
Plus, if you're not great like I am, you can help in other ways like barricading, or scouting, or proving armor as Rook.
Also the sound. Nothing is more unnerving than hearing footsteps from the 2nd floor above, then BAM, someone detonates a breach charge right behind you.

Overall, as I write this review, it's an 8/10. Definitely feels a bit imbalanced since some characters are clearly better in early levels than others.

Edit:
I have now about 250 hours in the game.
I still enjoy it a lot. it's probably my favorite fps game. At least, favorite multiplayer fps. Ubisoft is more concerned with adding new characters with different quirks than actually fixing bad hitbox registration and weird game breaking glitches. It's the same issue many other FPS games have, so it's really just more of the same.
After getting to know the layout of the maps more it feels like the possibilities are more narrowed down in terms of insertion points. Which can make the game feel a bit repetitive, especially with certain maps that haven't been updated since launch. Once you know where the enemy can attack from, it isn't too hard to defend. With attacking, it sometimes feels like a game of rock paper scissors. It's all about angles and anticipating the enemy. Some maps are easy to anticipate your foes in, and others are pretty hard. Border is more open to roaming due to its fairly circular layout, while Kafe as it is now is very linear, so there are a ton of chokepoints.
The other factor is headshots. You can have a really powerful gun, but if the enemy gets a headshot, your gun's useless. I like this over games like overwatch, since if I hit the smallest target on your body, I deserve a reward. The consequence of this though, is someone can blind fire into a wall and instantly kill you on accident. I've been on both sides of that, and it really is crap. But, that's how it works, and I would rather have that than the alternative.

What if...
Those two words define this game. It's a game of choices. Decisions. Time.
Also lag towards the late game.
The premise is simple. Choose a country, and play that faction through WWII and see what happens. Wage wars in the Americas, and make peace in Europe. Spread the flames of communism, both literally and figuratively.
You're given the tools, and with said tools you can forge a new future.
If only the AI was better, and the game didn't get really laggy towards the latter half.

One thing to note: I used to play Day Z religiously back when it was a mod for Arma II.

Now that I said that, let me begin by saying that this is a truly fun experience. I suck at arena survival games like Day Z and Rust. However this kind of emphasized how not good I am at that sort of gameplay. I'm more of a survivor. I like hiding out, and waiting for my time to strike. This game's mechanic of slowly shrinking the play area down highlights two issues I have, but also two things I love about it.

Issues:
1. Unless you get a vehicle early, you're screwed. I don't like vehicles because they're loud, and I tend to play these types of games stealthily (which doesn't really work in this game very well).
2. Defense is king. If the zone is shrunk down to 100 meters or so, and you just so happened to be there at the right time, the game goes from being an arena survival game to a defense vs offense horde mode game hah. Which isn't bad, it just makes the game seem unbalanced. Especially for new players like me.

Goods:
1. I love how easy it is to survive at the start. You basically choose your spawn, and you get to scope out the enemy. It makes it easier to avoid contact and let the mongoloids duke it out. I was able to survive as the tope 18 and 15 players in both of my playthroughs. That's pretty awesome.
2. Plenty of chances to get weapons and vehicles. The airdrops provide you the opportunity to either get better equipment or just camp while shooting as people going for the drop.

So far I really do enjoy it. It's not overtly buggy and broken like Day Z (also zombies running through walls), and it's not as skill based like Rust. If you play solo, it's every person for themselves, so there's no groups of bandits making it harder for bambies to play. There's no real camping unless you make it to the center of the circle first, and even then there's opportunity to flank and shank.
8/10 can't wait for the full release.

Hello, I'm just writing a quick review for this game since I finally bought the Far Cry 4: Super Duper Jerk It Edition for about 30 bucks.

The Good:
-Great selection of weaponry. I love how many there are, but honestly you'll only ever use the signature weapons. They're op as heck and easy to unlock.
-Very beautiful atmosphere. The best in the series, next to Far Cry II.
-Interesting enough story. Could be deeper. I love how it's sort of a satire of itself. A local dude shows up to a war torn country and is thrown into a world of crap. When all he wanted to due was bury his mum.
-Very fun big bad, but I wish he was more involved than he was.
-Relatively fluid gameplay, outside of the major gun battles and stealthy stuff. More on that below.
-REALLY great supporting characters. I love them all! I can't remember their names, but they all have their own motivations and beliefs. So it's easy to point to one or two of them and go "Yup, that's my favorite character. I want more of them."

The Bad:
-The ai is either stupid or super 'smart'. Rarely is dealing with liberating camps fun due to the ai. They can see you from a mile away, and know exactly where you are. Sometimes you can flank them, but only if you're lucky. I've liberated half of the camps, and only twice was I able to snipe the enemy without all of them going "THERE HE IS! BEHIND THE BUSHES! AND THE ROCK! AND THE TREE! ABOUT 1KM AWAY!". It's not fun.
-The mortors. Those are the worst. You don't even need to be spotted, and they'll start shelling your exact position. I get that it's supposed to prevent people from camping, but seriously, we don't need a stupid mortor to chase us away from the position we were in.
-Stealth. The "stealth" feels like it's significantly worse in this game than in Far Cry III. I remember being able to silently take down entire camps by strategically sniping the snipers and spotting enemies, then use tactics to move out of the paths of enemies to silently take them down. Now, if you snipe and try to reposition to avoid detection, one small move means you're "spotted" by the enemy. Then the above issue with mortors and the ai occurs. Over and over again. A grunt with an AK shouldn't be able to see you from more than 500 meters away without binoculars or something. Otherwise, what's the point in sniping? Due to the above, it ruins the flow of gunplay. Honestly it's just more effective spamming grenades and molotovs. Hell, you get more XP for a grenade kill than a headshot kill in many cases. So it's like, what's the point?
-Protagonist. This is probably the weakest part of the game. He's just some bloke who gets caught up in a bunch of ♥♥♥♥, but he's somehow already a cold blooded murderer? In Far Cry III you witness Jason go from your every day frat Bro to a jaded killer. The skill point system in that game altered your character as a human being. Not to mention that more than half of the skill points are useless. Which leads to:
-Skill points. They're mostly useless, save for infinite sprint, and the health ones. All of the elephant, save for three or four, are useless. You're never going to need the hunter syringe. Nor the increased damage one. The take downs on the tiger's side are useful usually, but it's not as rewarding anymore since you'll probably be forced into spamming grenades or other explosives anyway.

The Ugly:
-Fall damage. The character can take 50 shots to the body, but can't fall more than 10 feet without dying?
-The setting. More of the same find towers, liberated outposts, do the main missions whenever.
-Invisible walls. Specifically with the helicopters. You could be flying straight ahead for miles, then for some reason you'll hear the beeping that means you're flying too high, and you'll stall out and crash, or just blow up. It's ludicrous how often that's happened to me.
-Karma Events. People say it improves the stale gameplay, but really it's mostly annoying. You can clear out a hostage situation, leave for two seconds, and then return to save the same hostage. Ad Infinitum. I know cause I milked that. I seriously shot the hostage just to see what would happen, only to have him respawn again. Weak.

Overall:
I feel that the devs were lazy with this one. They ran out of steam, and resorted to limiting how the player can achieve their goals for the sake of padding the gameplay. It was worth the 25-30 bucks for the super duper jerk me off edition, but it's not a game I can see myself playing much more of after I beat it. With Far Cry III, I still play it from time to time (I have it on a different platform due to issues with windowed mode on the steam version for some reason). If the devs made the ai dumber (as in more human-like), then it'd be more enjoyable. I like stealth, and I like quick ends to fights. If a fight lasts too long I just restart the mission because it's not worth the time or energy trying to play Far Cry IV: Horde Mode.

So this review is not ALL about the recent crap involving Take Two AND Rockstar (remember that Rockstar clearly didn't do anything to prevent this, so they're just as much in the wrong.) banning mods. No, this is a bit broader than that.

My main fun factor in this game (was) the amount of stuff you can do, both in singleplayer (which is clasically what GTA is all about) and multiplayer. The story was pretty mediocre, the characters not too interesting, and the ending pretty boring. It's the game around the main story that was exciting. I liked the heists in both single and multiplayer (I liked the single player version much more though). I liked driving dirt bikes up and down the country sides. I like robbing stores, or having shootouts on rooves etc etc.
However, once that ran out, you turned to multiplayer. Which you could do missions, and complete objectives with friends. You could make racing tracks, and make fun mini-games out of the tools rockstar provided.
It all kind of hit the fan after the Hiests were added. Hiests were expensive (in game) meaning you relied on grinding, buying money via shark cards, or having friends who are loaded. Thankfully I'm frugal so the starting 1.5 million went a long way.
Then you repeatedly had updates for only multiplayer that required even more money to take part in. The executive offices, the gun runner update, the overly priced new cars and stuff. In order to play with the new toys, you needed money. The only way to earn the money is to become a mule to an executive. Some were good, but many were bad since they mostly consisted of hackers or people who used real money to buy the exxecutive title rather than "earn it".
It just became an increasingly impossible grind to earn anything anymore. The "new" care of yesterday that you were just able to buy is far surpassed by the latest and greatest car that's twice as much. That's why mods were fun. In singleplayer, you were able to drive the older new cars, and build race tracks, and blow up towns... All dressed like a hooker. There were gamemodes (albiet singleplayer ones) that increased replayability.

TL'DR:
The game stopped being about fun, and started becoming too realistic for my liking. It's a game, not a job. I have real life stuff to do. I don't need to waste my time grinding another version of me in order to buy a virtual Jaguar. That's why mods were fun.

So I want to make the pros and cons short, sweet, and to the point. Because it's late and I'm too tired to write a lengthy review.

Pros:
Beautiful game. For being a Desert city, it's very colorful and unique.
Story is different for its genre. I mean it is predictible if you've seen this kind of story before, or even if you've seen Apocalypse Now. However it is nice to see a deeper meaning to the bloodshed, no matter how shallow it might be.
The transition of your protagonist and your comrades. I won't say more for fear of spoilers.

Cons:
Garbage ai. The game as a false sense as to what constitutes difficulty. The game thinks that difficulty = pinpoint accurate enemies that bum rush you. I played it on suicide, and I thought it was easy when the ai acted more... human... and impossible when the enemy snipes you from 500 km with one shot with a bloody smg.

Limited enemies. I'd like variety to the people I kill. Names, faces, and some sort of intelligence. The game is meant to make every bullet you fire seem significant, but in the end it's just you and your mates mowing down ai.

Horrible PC controls. I guess the ones who ported the controls have never played an FPS or TPS on a keyboard+mouse before.

Bland, generic characters. The main protagonist is great. Same with the people you meet in Dubai. But your comrades are so cringy sometimes.

Neutral:

Linear story telling. I mean that's also a pro in my opinion since I hate these modern shooters that are like "dur dur open world" when in actuality they're linear too. Just with less strict rules. At least when you "make decisions", it's to further the plot and not because "lol dead people".

Political messages about video games. There seems to be some sort of message about violent video games and how they make us numb to the realities of war. Ugh. Same ♥♥♥♥ different day. At least for the most part it's tasteful. Unlike a certain COD MW 2 mission we all know and love.

Short game time. It's neutral cause the scenery does get old, and so does the messages, and so do the samey enemies. It ends right before I completely lost interest.

Bottom Line (heh)
Buy it on sale. Play it for the aesthetics and solid shooting gameplay. And enjoy a game rightfully rated 76% of metacritic (at the time of this review).

No man's sky is one of the space exploration games of all time.
It took 8 years, but it's honestly at a point where the I think 20 bucks I spent on it makes me genuinely feel bad as it deserves far more.
The game, the team, and the community are overall amazing. I loved exploring the planets, and seeing the interesting worlds. The base building is simple and intuitive, and I like the inclusion of planetary vehicles.
So why do I only have 57 hours in it? (and 100 on my PS4)
I just lost interest. Its very grindy in the beginning, and I just have too many other games to play. Every two or three updates would cause my PS4 saves to corrupt, so I would have to restart. It's not as bad on here but it's still an occurrence.
It's pretty rare for a game to sink its teeth into me enough to warrant 200 hours or more of play time. Dragons Dogma 2 and Starfield did it recently and I genuinely do not know how or why. DD2 is legit just an easy mode monster hunter, and Starfield wishes it was this game.
This is an example of a game that got away. A game that I'll pick up every couple years, play for a week, then go play X4 or something.
Nothing actually matters in the game. The interactions you have are meaningless. The sentient lifeforms you meet are all boring and pointless. They give you missions and "purpose" but none of it really matters because the planet that you're strip mining will still be barren no matter how livable it is, and the factions that exist will always exist in relative peace. I've never seen two fleets engage one another, nor have I seen a predator hunt prey. I've never seen a genuine waterfall, and I've never seen two aliens have a conversation. It's all one big grind with very little feedback that anything matters.
It's a pretty sad world and it actually made me feel depressed the last time I played it because I was thinking "How sad of a world this is that nobody says anything meaningful to one another." I figured out why I feel this way.
The world just doesn't feel lived in. It's all set dressing, and it makes me feel so alone. I felt this way when walking through space stations or ships in X4. It's all just meaningless busy work just going from mission to mission, or person to person to find the hireling with the best stats.
Overall, it's a great game, and it is being updated consistently for free with new stuff and interesting ideas. It's fun, but it just wasn't for me.
