Trying to be too many things at once, and winds up not really doing any of them well. Elden Ring had the sauce; Nightreign doesn't. Props to the new director for trying something different, but I don't particularly love it.

Yep, it's another kick-ass Doom game. id has done it again. Plays way differently than 2016 or Eternal, but it still rips. New abilities feel good, new weapons feel good, combat feels good, movement feels good, graphics are good. Great game. I do miss Mick Gordon, though.

Note: Yeah I technically received this with my video card, but I had actually prepurchased the game before that, so it's not like my money wasn't on the line here.

Good game, about as good as GoW 2018, though I have to say I do think I prefer that one over this. This one is fun enough, despite suffering from the same camera issues as its predecessor during combat, and it's jam-packed with content to the point where I honestly feel it's a little bloated. Still though, if you liked GoW 2018, you'll probably like this as well.

However, I'll never forgive Santa Monica Studio for hiring notoriously untalented hack Anthony Burch to assist with writing, whose contributions ultimately boil down to ripping off the 1994 film The Mask, starring Jim Carrey. Thank God I'm not Anthony Burch.

Obscenely overpriced and the expansion kind of sucks. You're better off just watching what little story is there online or something.

Beautiful But Hollow - A Disappointing Journey

Review:

I wanted to love Ghost of Tsushima. The game boasts stunning visuals and a beautifully rendered open world that captures the essence of feudal Japan. The landscapes are breathtaking, and the attention to detail is impressive. However, that's where the praise ends.

Gameplay-wise, Ghost of Tsushima feels like a missed opportunity. The combat, while initially engaging, becomes repetitive quickly. The enemies are predictable, and the combat mechanics, though visually impressive, lack depth. It often feels like you're just going through the motions rather than facing real challenges.

The story, which had the potential to be a compelling exploration of honor and duty, falls flat. The narrative is predictable, and character development is shallow. The side quests, while numerous, feel like filler rather than meaningful content. They rarely offer anything beyond basic fetch quests or repetitive tasks.

The open world, though large and beautiful, suffers from a lack of variety. It quickly becomes apparent that the game’s world is more of a backdrop than an integral part of the experience. The exploration feels tedious rather than thrilling, and the lack of meaningful interaction with the environment is disappointing.

Overall, Ghost of Tsushima is a visually impressive game with a lot of promise but fails to deliver in terms of gameplay and story. It's a decent choice if you’re looking for something to pass the time, but don’t expect a groundbreaking experience. If you're a fan of open-world games, you might find some enjoyment here, but it’s hard to shake the feeling that this game could have been so much more.

This dumb 40 minute game actually made me feel something, so kudos to the team.

They did it again. It's a shame the final boss is so broken, because everything up to that point is another masterpiece. Beautiful world, good music, interesting lore, great bosses; ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I love Elden Ring.

This game is another good Arkane despite the issues I have with it. It's cool as hell with a lot of really interesting concepts and mechanics that sometimes feel like they're clashing with each other, but the overall gameplay is super fun. The freedom to approach the game however you want is fantastic as always, even if the titular loop mechanic can get tedious at times and the game does seem to railroad you a bit into doing things a certain way as the narrative progresses.

The multiplayer can be a bit frustrating at times, especially when you're getting invaded by someone with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ internet connection every time you enter a zone, or just getting invaded at all when you're trying to make progress. Don't get me wrong, I like the invasion mechanic, but it just happens a bit too frequently for my liking. You can turn off online interactions, though I never did.

Overall, it's better than Dishonored 1 and I'd imagine Redfall (never played that one lol), but not as good as Dishonored 2 and Prey. I like it.
