I have that game since release, i have a lot to say.. because the development story of this game is.. interesting.

So when the game came out, we can all agree that the game was mid for so many reasons. Optimization, content, bugs, sounds etc...

last patch of season 1 which was re-armament update. improved the performances, did countless buffs to weapons and mods. fixed 800+ bugs. Then operation : breakout update, which is officially the first content update. brought one new map (the prison), DJ skully , new weapon (KV Recluse), 500 bug fixes, new enemy (stalker), new mods for weapons and a few other shadow drops (KF1 musics).

The current state of KF3 as of operation: breakout. The game is fun and content is getting better, but they have a long way to go. I want to see the difficulty improved and more variety to the game. more performance fixes, and more content overall.

I want people to give it a chance, because i think tripwire is starting to redeem themselves.

I'm done with the game, so.. i have a lot to say, first i must warn you that this review will contain a bit of spoilers. YOU'RE WARNED!!

STORY

The story is very complicated, but also very well explained. Unlike other SH games, NG+ is relevant to have the full story here. One of them is obviously the canon one. I recommand going for endings in chronological order (2-3-4).
The story explain the story of Hinako shimizu, a teenage girl living in a town called ebisugaoka. One day after an violent argument with his father, she goes outside to reunite with her friends when the town get enshrouded by fog.

While i'm not gonna spoil the story further then this. here's my review for the story

Story : 10/10

MUSIC & ATMOSPHERE

Akira Yamaoka really did good with the soundtrack again. the tone fits the atmosphere perfectly, i don't really have much to say about it other then the fact it's a banger.

As for the atmosphere it perfectly fulfill its purpose which is to make it scary, the disturbing enemies and the fog/sounds. The atmosphere for this game is perfect therefore.

10/10 for both.

COMBAT

This is the weakness of this game. So before i dive into it, i must say that the combat grew on me, but it's still a bit underwhelming when the second half of the game is action heavy. The perfect dodge and stamina system was the perfect way to nerf it from SH2R (as it was broken OP there)

I don't really like how limited the animations are when there's a huge pool of weapon in the game. There's like only two animations (light and heavy weapons) 3 if you consider NG+ weapons.

the lock in system while great, doesn't do anything much. I would have liked a camera focus like homecoming did. it would fit well here imo.

Considering the limited and how junky the combat look..

8/10 maybe 7 in the late game due to the action spam we get..

BONUS: NG+

I don't want to add it to my full review (so it won't count in the total points).

NG+ in this one is a game changer here, for the first time in a Silent Hill game. A lot change in NG+, dialogues, cutscenes, NG+ items, new weapons and 4 new endings.

Once you've finished the game the first time most of the dialogue will be the truth about what they think of hinako on top of.. saying things are they are. Endings change some puzzle solutions and texts. new notes get added as well.

However, my issue is how much the NG+ weapons (Spoiler : PP-8001 and Katana ) They both suck and are underwhelming to me idk.

OVERALL NOTE

9/10 that's the note i will give this Silent Hill game. The best mainline Silent Hill Game we had since SH4 (excluding SH2R ofc). While there's a few issues here and there such

- shader compilation stuttering (second playthough fix itself and performance are increased by 1.5x)
- Traversal Stuttering (UE4 and UE5 specialty) nowhere close to Silent Hill 2 level though.
- Visual issues (flickers, black fog when no lumen, buzzing/VHS visual issues when removing motion blur and high FPS)
- High FPS : Sensitivity slower, visual issues increased.
- lack of features : No DLAA, No HUD option missing, refresh rate

EDIT

I want them to add the following content

- Unlockable costumes (there's only paid DLC)
- Ranking system (Feature missing since Homecoming and still missing in SH2R as well)
- Stats

Surprisingly, well optimized. UE5 is known to be stuttering and having bad performance. Here i can play on Ultra and be above 50 FPS natively (60 with DLSS quality). I was expecting a replay of SH2R performance issues (which are still present) i didn't have a single stutter or at least if i had one i didn't pay attention. it's very well optimized for 99% of the time.

There's a few FPS drops, but it's still one of the most optimized UE5 game i played in forever. The game is almost fully the same as the OG minus.. guy savage , snake eater theme and some new cosmetics.

Everything got restored (Snake vs monkey (bomberman on xbox) , demo theater etc..) i'm super surprised and it's honestly one of the biggest surprise of the year. Don't listen to people complain in the review. i have a 4070 (which is far from being top tier) and have wonderful performance (while i was streaming too). If you like MGS3 OG and want a fresh take on MGS3 you should play it without hesitation.

Patch 1.2.3 really improved the performance quite a bit. Konami is doing well with performance, however, i can't speak for lower tier hardware if it runs well or not. I hope Konami have more plans along the lines to add uncap FPS into the main game and add official reflex support.

Foxhunt is awesome and fun, however, there's a lack of content for it.. but for what it is, I think it's cool. You guys should give it a chance.

I have a lot to say about this game.

This game is hated upon Castlevania fans. The major reason for it are because of the stealth section. While i agree they mess up the pacing of the game.. Are not that bad nor that difficult to deal with. I actually think this game is very rich lore-wise and content wise considering.

This take place after Mirror Of Fate which the events are explained again at the beginning of the game. Also happen in the future year 2057. The story happen in both past and future.

The art design is out of this world for a game from 2014. Dracula's Castle is huge and impressive to look at.. same for Castlevania city. The graphics aged super well, the naration while inferior to the OG Lord Of Shadows is decent. The music follows closely the style introduced with OG LoS and MoF.

I recommand this game 100%. However beware..

- This PC port has issues that Konami never cared to fix.

- Alt+Tab can mess up your keyboard controls on your PC altogether. requiring PC restart to fix (at least i have no solution for it)
- Game crash randomly (didn't crash a lot for me) but low end pc will crash a lot probably
- game softlock itself sometimes (restart checkpoints fix most of them)
- streaming the game on discord or OBS can cause crash if you remove v-sync in the revelations DLC

Other then those issues the game is very solid. I hope Konami will revisit those games one day in a remaster. Actual keyboard controls, mouse cursor in the menu (instead of emulated console controls) would be great.

8/10 game imo.

a personal favorite of 2025 for me. Doom always has been good games and this one is no different.

People saying that this game is mid are out of their mind. it's one of the game in the franchise. I would rate Doom Eternal lower then this game. This game is very consistant with the pacing and story. Doom eternal was just arena, platforming , a bit of walk then arena and platforming again. Since when doom became a platformer??

The only downsides of this game are forced RTX, but tbh for this game in particular?? i don't mind it since this game is super optimized i have 80 fps average with DLAA which is very good considering.
i'm using a 4070 btw.

- Quick swap is slower there's a way to increase the speed, however since update 1 i can't reproduce it. i think they may have nerf quick swap again.
- The music is different and i would agree a tad less inferior to 2016 and eternal. There's still a few bangers there and i think the soundtrack fit the game.

Another Frame Generation game.. That game is mid in so many ways.. Like sure character design is cool, but the game will never be as close as the OG game.

This game lack a soul and is overall boring. I've finished it and plan to finish the achievements before never touching it ever again. The ending is not as interesting and the Dragon is barely even there. I know he wasn't there most of the story in the first game too.. However.. even the fight isn't as interesting as OG. The music.. the feel was just better in the OG.

As for gameplay : The stunlock is annoying , the HP penalty after taking damage is mid and hinder the progression (which again isn't hard). It's mostly a walking simulator and port crystal doesn't stay at their spots when going for NG+ which make the game obnoxious to even replay.

Anyway, very disappointed by Capcom. No DLC to fix those issues, no support to improve performance , replayability or fun factor.

BUY THE OG AND IGNORE THIS ONE

Here's for Capcom to improve the game: Improve Endgame/NG/NG+

- Carry Portcrystal to NG+ instead of removing them!! We worked hard on those (traveling on the map is boring)
- Improve the red dragon fight
- Improve Trickster vocation
- improve Armor looks and variety
- Add the remaining hairstyle only available to NPC's (Ulrika etc...) for customization for both pawn and Arisen
- DLC's to improve overall experience (bitter Black isle like dlcs) alongside infinite ferrystone like DD1.
- Improve enemy variety and add new enemies
- improve exploration on foot
- improve the story and the pacing
- improve various quests
- Add relationship visual cue (Like DD1 used to do aka purple aura)
- improve xp/dcp gain from quests and enemies
- reduce input lag in menus and in gameplay
- increase speed that dialogues can be skipped
- reduce HP penalty from taking damage (or add an item to remove it)
- add Hard Mode Difficulty

It's a very cool game.. That game explain some major plot which LoS 2 probably don't explain. This game explain the origin story of Gabriel Belmont , simon belmont , Alucard and Trevor Belmont in that order.

I know OG castlevania players have a hatred towards the LoS timeline which i understand why.. this game is correct when it comes to story timeline gap.

Anyway i recommand this game use classic game like the OG's. This is a remaster of the OG 3DS port.

Game runs terrible, looks terrible.

120fps can't be reached without DLSS and fake frame generation. They need to stop this AI bs dominating games. It's time to optimize game again.

Edit: After working on doing achievement and finally decided to finish the game ( played 2h at the release). The game doesn't crash anymore, but.. performance are complete meme, still forced to used AI ♥♥♥♥ even tho the game graphics doesn't justify why we need to use them (because it looks like trash).

Content is.. non-existant. Just repetition of the same things. Achievement are still the same boring grindfest as previous games ( crowns , kill x monster , collect stuff yada yada.. next) that game weigh over 145 GB btw and it's not even worth it. If you hated Dragon's Dogma 2 for similar issues here it's worse.

I play that game when it first released on PS3 in (2010) played the demo as well when it first released. The game was the goat at the time. Now it poorly aged and content is kinda weak.

They did two map packs, but never added new weapons for the marines. Never added new animation for predator and aliens.

The PC port is kinda GG, no windowed support (borderless) and if you alt+tab it might glitch your game or PC. There was a bug where the executable was updating which would prevent the game from working. As much i used to love this game it's hardly playable now.

I wish modders would make the game more playable and fix some of it's issues! Anyway, multiplayer is populated with one hacker that ruin the few games happening.

6/10 game/port

I don't really know what is the stance of the playerbase towards this timeline. However i like Gabriel Belmont, i think he is an interesting character. The story is well explained and it's a very long game.

The thing i don't like much is how they made the DLC. It looks very low budget (Cutscenes in particular). The final boss is awesome though. I'm looking forward to play Lord Of Shadow : Miror of Fate and Lords of shadows 2.
