ULTRAKILL is the perfect game. cut and dry.
my last review on this was just a funny joke regarding the prime souls but im here to write a genuine review.
no game on this planet has ever made me happier than ULTRAKILL has, with the exception of maybe elden ring.
ultrakill is one of those games where every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ second your playing it you can feel, taste and experience the sheer love and compassion put into every BLOODY surface and speck of this game.
and the ULTRA_REVAMP update only solidifies this.
the game is beautiful now, the prelude doesnt look basic as ♥♥♥♥, limbo looks a lot better and more immersive, lust looks great, not a whole lot different but still noticable changes that make it feel better and gluttony is gorgeous, i mean gorgeous.
the act 2 changes are even less, but the ones that stood out to me are the great changes to wrath, 5-2 waves of the starless sea is even more beautiful than it was before, the ocean looks a lot better, the enviornment isnt bleak as it was, and the ship and ferryman fight feel great.
and dont even get me started on 5-4 leviathan, the introduction is a little creepier, but the fight has been improved by LIGHTYEARS. i always thought, for a main story end 4th level boss fight leviathan was very underwhelming, cool, but underwhelming.
this changes it a lot! i think it really shines now, with the stage being a boat, and it destroying the boat and making a whole new arena, which is just genius, the fight feels fresh and great and i really cant shake the fact that its a whole lot better now. i think the only fight that falls under it is cerberus, but thats obvious.
the change on 6-1 cry for the weeper is insane too, the underground visuals look SO much better. its jaw dropping falling into that hole and seeing the giant pillars lower from the ceiling.
and dont even get me started on the encore stages
e-1 heat, an evil heat is insane, a incredibly fun and challenging level, not to the extent of maybe p-2, but still challenging and fun! radiant enemies are a good edition that have gone unused in sandbox for a bit (and also cybergrind i think(?)) but they really dont feel too much harder and make it a fun spectacle! seeing prelude frozen over and than overheat with the fun challenging overheat mechanic which made it hard but not TOO hard was nice! and traveling through several levels in one is also great that both encore stages contain
e-2 the fell ashes was nice too, i cant say i enjoyed it as much as e-1, but that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 2 virtue, 1 mindflayer and 4 drone room was the most painful thing ive done in a while. the environments were cool and it was a good change to the limbo aesthetic.
one gripe is that the final fight against that cool radiant hideous mass was somehow easier than the previous hideous mass with the several idols? just something i thought was weird
