Just a fun simple RPG for the lols. I genuinely enjoy the story as well.

This is a great point and click adventure. Dark Fall: Ghost Vigil might be my favorite of all the Dark Fall games (they are all great point and click adventures). The story of the game is engaging and makes you want to keep playing all the way to the end in one sitting. The mood that subtly builds via sounds, visuals and story is one of my favorite aspects of the game. The game doesn't rely on jump scares to get you spooked, which is nice because jump scares are cheap. If you have played the Lost Crown, also by Darkling Room, you will notice your familiar ghost hunting gadgets are back, with the addition of a few new toys! I really enjoyed the ghost box, a great addition to the ghost hunting mechanics. The puzzles are neither too difficult nor too easy in this game. I had originally purchased the game directly from the developer's website and this is my second playthrough of the game. If I have one complaint it would be the constant pestering of the ghost hunters at the very beginning of the game. But if you have purchased the game and that is bothering you, don't worry it doesn't happen for very long. Overall, I am very happy with this game and I can't wait to see the next Darkling Room game.

I enjoyed it and I hope HeR can improve in the next game. I like that the historical theme is back. The graphics are nice, the animations need some work. I feel like the dialogue is greatly improved and the style of clothing and behavior of the characters is more modern. I wish there had been more actual game play and puzzles. I really missed the old HeR interactive intro music.

I originally played this game back when it first came out as an MMO. I like to think of this game as Myst adjacent. It isn't the same feel or puzzle level as the point-and-clicks but it's the same universe and carries on the story. I am willing to admit that this game has its share of annoying timing/navigating/warping puzzles. Also a few annoying moments that require you to launch your clumsy character into the abyss, without a single good camera angle, while desperately trying to click a tiny hit box... okay that sounds pretty bad... but the game reveals so much of the history of D'ni. Through URU you learn things you do not get from many of the other Myst universe games, also getting to see the lost city was really interesting. Having played the MMO playing the game solo is starkly different. The game takes on an intensely lonely and haunting feel throughout the majority of the ages. This feeling does not detract from the game, rather it adds to the story and tragedy of the D'ni. I was particularly struck by this in the Kadish gallery (which has one of the best pieces of music in the whole Myst universe). If you are a big fan of the story and universe and you don't get frustrated with difficult or clumsy puzzles, give this game a shot.

I was pleasantly surprised by this game. The game doesn't fall victim to overusing the same features or mechanisms excessively. Elements are reused in this game, but not to death like you see in some other adventure games. The plot is entertaining albeit a tad predictable/cliche but enjoyable and I felt driven to find out more about the expedition to this far away solar system. The characters are nuanced and neither entirely good or entirely bad, which I appreciate from a story driven game. Are there flaws in the story? Yes. Do they ruin the game? Not in my opinion. My only real complaints about this game would be that I would have liked a more thorough explanation of the puzzle interfaces and that several of the later worlds do not seem fully fleshed out... rather like they just ran out of budget or time to finish them (or add more content to them at least). I purchased this game while it was on sale. However, I believe the price is high because this game was created by just two people, which makes it all the more impressive in my eyes.

A fun point and click game. Creepy characters, logical and fairly simple puzzles with lots of little hidden achievements to find. Really enjoyed the dark victorian vibe and the graphics. Hope to see more from this developer.

This review is for the updated Myst 25th Anniversary patch of the game (Updated on 9/11/2018). It works now!

This game holds up to the test of time. It's still beautiful for a game that's over 20 years old. It's easy to see why many people enjoyed Riven even more than it's predecessor. I cannot recommend Riven enough to retro adventure game fans. It's a classic.

As a fan of this genre, and specifically shadow tor and darkling room style games, I feel compelled to write a premature review given the only review for this game is negative. I'm about 3 hrs into the game so far and it delivers on the same kind of tension the original did. The story is compelling and I would encourage anyone who is a fan of Matt Clark and Jonathan boakes games to give this one a shot. My only complaint is that I am currently unable to progress due to bug. I will amend this review once I finish the game.

If you have like 10-15 minutes to kill give it a go. Short, simple, small file size and free.

This game is a good and natural sequel to HOMM5. Other than the horrible fact that you need to connect to the conflux to play, this game is good. I have lost progress once playing but it was only back to my last save (which occurs regularly due to the fact the game saves every turn in this turn based game). A few other negatives also come to mind, though other than the internet problem they are all relatively small complaints. I wish they had left in the wizard, dwarven and elven factions though. This game is perhaps a bit too simplified without the need to purchase war machines and only 4 resources to collect.

Now some positives for the game. The new faction of the culturally inspired naga is a great addition with their focus on spiritual development of the character. There are several main heroes that I genuinely like as well unlike in HOMM5 where there are two likeable characters that were still a bit generic. There are new bonus statues and buildings to visit litered all over every map so even if you miss one bonus you will still be able to get several others. This game is essentially HOMM5 with just a little bit of tweaking, some good, some bad. I thoroughly enjoyed HOMM5 so if you did as well chances are you will love this game.
