Review Showcase

Introduction:
Terminator Resistance (their previous game) was good in most aspects - like the music and world building/immersion - except for facial expressions/animations...not great. This is similar in a lot of positive ways, but does add new features: like the auto-9 boards (i.e. expanded gun modifications) and better skill trees with more of them. It also does have better facial expressions and animations, even if they still aren't life-like human expressions (i.e. Facial Motion Capture). The music also isn't as good, but you could argue that is subjective.

Overall Thoughts:
The story itself is alright, even if I am not super moved or captivated. It is passable and isn't off-putting though. The level layout is arguably semi-linear? I phrase it like a question as I am not certain. It definitely isn't open-world. What I can say is most of the levels - but not all - are large enough to spend a good amount of time exploring and doing side missions. Only some are completely linear - for the most part anyway - and handle almost like a rail shooter. However, none of them are ever boring for me...least not yet.

I have not completed the game yet, but I do feel it's a "one and done" kinda deal. That's not to say it's bad, but I don't see myself replaying it multiple times, not unless they add DLC that really expands upon the game. Maybe even makes it open world. Although I do get and respect the decision to go the way they did, as nobody wants a dead and lifeless open-world with nothing to do.

Conclusion:
I don't know how far I am into the game, but I would say without major spoilers I just got done doing a level prominently featuring a bank. I am liking it so far and hope to see more from them.

I don't really do scores, but if I had to I would say maybe a 7/10. Above average but not a masterpiece. I would say get this game on a reasonable sale and it should be worth your time.

Special Request For the Devs:
I WISH; I BEG; I PLEAD. For you to do a Judge Dredd game. Preferably open-world. So basically: Like Cyberpunk 2077 but in a Dredd setting.

Edit (29/11/2024): ...Please...It's been almost a year...and wait I still do for this....

Was a good game, I can only hope they do a sequel to ACE Academy. Or do more spin-offs like this.
