Been playing since launch, game was fairly rough at first, but has improved substantially since then. Combat was good, which has only improved as they add new enemies and characters. Game isn't perfect, but the devs have a solid track record of fixing and improving the game, which has resulted in a largely positive outlook from the community.

Just lost my first run, which was surprisingly long, which I assume is just luck since I don't have a ton of experience with this style of game. Game is kind of like a mix between Slay the Spire and Into the Breach. Runs and plays great on Steamdeck. The art is really nice, music is amazing, it took a while to learn what the various icons and effects mean, but thankfully the tooltips do a great job explaining what everything does. Absolutely glad I picked this up, I think this will be a mainstay on my Steamdeck for a long time.

Horribly broken audio, tried several fixes I saw recommended online, nothing worked. Start menu also runs at a stuttering 13fps on a 4080, but everything after that ran well enough. Not great game, worse port. Avoid this garbage.

Performance is still a problem for many, and in fact has gotten worse with subsequent patches for many of those people. Despite not personally experiencing many of those performance issues, I still have many complaints about this game. I want to go back to the style of older games where I could just fight the monster I want, without having to search for them on the map, and resting over and over, wasting research points just to fish for a specific monster. I want my knowledge and preparation to be rewarded, but with the ability to change my items and equipment whenever I want almost completely negates that. The seikret and palico make early hunts too safe, so the only way to make a monster difficult is to make them 1 shot players. They have sanded off too many of the rough edges that gave the series it's character, and weirdly added some new ones that make parts of the experience more frustrating and annoying. Give me GU or 4U on PC for ♥♥♥♥ sake, they were far from perfect, but they were the golden age of this series.

Writing is very good, the tone is dark, but character are surprisingly funny at times. Tutorial kind of sucks.

This isn't an easy recommendation. I am really enjoying this game, but you need to treat it like the loot grind that it is to really get the most value out of it. If you are in for that, the combat and progression in this game are very satisfying. If you just want to progress up the tower without exploring or grinding for materials to upgrade your gear, maybe you should just play another game.

Early Access Review
Right now this is very bare bones, but once it gets more levels, blocks, and features, this could be really amazing.
