There's no soul here. This is a generated game behind a wall of interface boxes. Not impressed.

Early Access Review
Before you delve into this review, please understand the background I've been immersed in, as this should lend some weight to my thoughts. Coming from a veteran MMORPG gamer, and originally one of the "elite" raiders—many of whom went on to design games like World of Warcraft, Rift, and more—I bring a seasoned perspective. My personal experience spans every major MMORPG launched between 1998 and 2016, at which point I retired from the MMORPG scene. So I am reviewing from a previously hardcore raider mindset and also a casual mindset.

With over 20,000 hours invested in Classic EverQuest before even the release of its second expansion, I can confidently say this game brings me the closest to the essence of EverQuest's launch since 1999.

While other games have come close—such as Vanguard: Saga of Heroes—this game feels more akin to EverQuest than EverQuest 2. It unmistakably strives to capture much of the pre-2001 EverQuest gameplay essence.

I've had the privilege of experiencing this game before its debut on Steam, and now that it's available there, I feel compelled to share my review.

First, let's address the less favorable aspects:

Graphics: While they may seem dated, some zones, such as the wilds lands and thronefast, still manage to look great. I believe there's potential for improvement here.

The Grind: Many of us seeking nostalgia are now in our late 30s, 40s, and early 50s. We generally have less time, more responsibilities, and no longer chase the "glory" or "progression" curve. We've become accustomed to MMORPGs and other games that satisfy the progression itch with less personal sacrifice. I do not see this game drawing in many of the younger crowds - forcing those staying for the game and nostalgia into multi-boxing to keep the game on life support.

Character Customization and Classes: The customizations are somewhat limited unfortunately even by 2000 standards.

Bots and dual boxing: This is the sole reason I refrain from returning to EverQuest and, regrettably, the reason I won't invest further in this game. Unless I see a company taking a strong stance against bots and two boxing including IP banning all bot accounts and their associated family accounts, I won't commit.

Now, onto the positives:

Nostalgia:This game strikes a chord with the nostalgia-seekers. The challenge feels just right, and I found myself giggling when I got stomped by social beetles during one of my first play sessions.

Map: No map—perfect, just the way it should be.

Potential: There is significant potential for growth with fixes to class balance, character models, and bug resolutions.

I do absolutely recommend this game to those who love CLASSIC MMORPG's. This has such potential.
I do not recommend this to anyone who started their MMORPG experiences after World of Warcraft.
I do not recommend this to anyone who is against Bots or Multi Boxers.

Such a unique magic system - It blew my mind when I was a kid and still by today's standards is one of the most unique magic systems in any game.

As a teenager, I stumbled upon Maniac Mansion, and it completely changed my gaming journey. The leap to Day of the Tentacle was mind-blowing and cemented my lifelong love for PC gaming.

While it might not be the most user-friendly by today's standards, it remains a true gem.

If you like a linear, unfulfilled slog of a game once you hit NG+ levels then this is for you. I gave it a shot, just isn't worth investing in beyond NG difficulties. There's infinitely better games that have proper end-games worth sinking time into. Poor design.

I play this game because my son loves it, but it's a struggle to overlook its flaws. While there are some redeeming aspects, I expected updates to the interface(minimal) and AI(very minimal). Unfortunately, it's the same game and engine as before, with no noticeable improvements. If you stripped the titles from FS22 and FS25, you wouldn't know the difference.

There's nothing new here. The same poor design, UI, and AI issues persist. Giant needs to overhaul their programming and interface design teams. There's nothing enjoyable about the interface, mechanics, or AI. The only positive aspect is the models and selection of equipment. Charging $50 for this is outrageous.

This will be the last product I purchase from this company. Do better

Game was fun. Clean. Tactical.

Until I got a game breaking bug with controller support that constantly flashed controller icons and interrupted keyboard/mouse controllers. I disabled all steam inputs. Unplugged controller. Updated. Uninstalled the game, reinstalled. Even uninstalled and REMOVED temporary files in steamapps. Bug still persists.

I even tried disconnected keyboard & mouse to use controller only support. Still flashing.

Absolutely unplayable experience due to this. I'll modify this to a positive review if there's a change or fix.

What a waste of hard drive space. There's nothing nice to say about this title.
