This will be a short, spoiler-free review.

This game is a visual novel where the simple title leads to places you would never expect. If you are an achievement hunter, there are a bunch of those, but, for the people who are not, each of the endings leads to various interesting interactions that are worth fully listening through. If possible, PLAY THE GAME BLIND!

This is a solid open world racer with cops, a bunch of customisation options, pretty fun races and a heat system that I think was done well. It is not amazing in any one regard, but it is good in most.

The game's pretty inconsistent difficulty in the campaign combined with server issues make it something I do not recommend playing unfortunately. Go to NFS: Heat (2019) if you want an open world NFS game or NFS: Hot Pursuit (2010/2020 remaster) for something that is closer to this but more solid overall.

I do not remember playing the original, but I know I must of done so with a sibling.

Anyways, from the perspective of someone essentially going in blind, yeah this was a nice game. Give it a try.

At first, this game seemed better than heat. A much more interesting art style, even if they did not go all the way with the effects, a more interesting driving model with the burst and normal nitrous system being split, and a flawed but still serviceable progression system.

Then I started dealing with the cops. The amount of playtime you see on this review is how many hours of the campaign it took before I got extremely sick of them.

The heat system in NFS Heat is leagues and bounds better than here. In that game, it was a guarantee that they would appear, sure, but only once you reached heat level 4/5 in the night. A good cop chase would be the duration of a race - essentially the cost of risking it all for extra reputation. In unbound, on the other hand, cop chases appear more frequently, in both the day and night, leading to situations like doing one high heat race in the night, increasing your heat level from 3.5 to 5, and being steamrolled by Ford Raptors you can do little about as they are as fast as your vehicle, way tankier and can go offroad. At lower heat levels, however, the cops are still a nuisance, as they will chase you out of roughly 1/3rd of all races.

It is a shame, really. The races are more fun in Unbound than in Heat, and a lot of the other positive qualities of Heat are carried over here. With that in mind, you should probably try NFS Heat instead.

Buck Up and Drive, ♥♥♥♥♥!

The game is good, the car variety is nice, and the premise is fun, but the controls are not something you will get used to without playing the tutorial.

Early Access Review
What if Megaman X was a modern rogue-like instead of a 90's platformer?
You would get this gem.

Small update from after early access: game was good, game is better, therefor game still good.

I haven't had too much time with the game yet but this is the best game in the Postal Franchise.

That is very particular wording but I will get to why later.

Firstly, the pros.
The gunplay feels good.
On hard difficulty, I never feel like I do not have enough ammo and/or items for the task but I cannot just spam my favourite weapons (the machine gun and assault rifle) either.
The movement feels quick, mostly because using ctrl+space allows you to move at an extremely rapid speed. You can hold down both if you want to.
Assuming your first instinct is not to speedrun the game, you should get a decent amount of hours out of it for the price. I have gotten through about 2/3rds of the campaign as of now.
The humour is very much inline with the Postal series. One of the enemies you get introduced to early on is a moustache wearing a sombrero .
Unlike most games made by Running With Scissors, this game is stable. Helps that this game was just published by them.

Now, some cons.
The quips, while funny at first, get repetitive.
The auto-saves do not always appear when you expect them to, occasionally causing annoying retreads of the level.
The layout is occasionally quite confusing.
In the postal 2 and 4, the humorous situations are things you have to deal with. Here, the humour is just sprinkled in on top of everything else. That is not a bad thing, far from it, but that means that you won't find the type of situations you usually would in those games. This is what I referred to earlier - It is arguable that this is not the best Postal game. Then again, you could argue this is more like the original Postal, but that is another discussion for another day.

All in all, good game. I would suggest buying it if you are either new to the Postal series and want a game that is not awfully jank or just want a nice boomer shooter.
