I'm late to the game, but I finally have a computer that's capable of playing HL2/EP1/EP2 at awesome framerates, so basically here's my review:

HL2 E2 was probably the best of the series. It didn't have nearly the frustrating gameplay puzzles that E1 had (having to shoot the cars to cover up the antlion nests was... painful).

However, it's a real kick in the balls that HL:E3 or HL3 is basically never coming out. I hope to play HL:Alyx soon if it goes back on sale again, but that won't really resolve the storyline.

There are lots of people who say "Valve doesn't owe us anything"; I think it's a bad argument. They got us emotionally hooked into a great game and storyline, and then to just never be able to follow through on a project to wrap up the story is pretty unfortunate for a company who lives on a product that prints money (Steam/SteamVR).

I would absolutely recommend this game to anyone who wants something different, even in a story-based narrative. The puzzles were pretty awesome (though frustrating sometimes, but I chalk that up to the way I played). There were some really, really slick parts that blew my mind about how the designers were able to perceive such a thing.

The interface is super weird, but it's a great version of the card game. Some of the things you'd have to do are automated, which is nice, but the UI doesn't scale well.

The meeting lobby to play online games needs work. It's very clunky and I wish it was smoother, but gameplay is nice otherwise. Some of the UI elements are a little counter intuitive and there are no signs that tell you what things mean; you just have to kind of derive them yourself.
